DD wrote: We all know that drastic change is long overdue at board level at the Perth FC but even more so now that Vince Pendal has flagged the possibility that us Perth supporters might be seduced by the possibility of success by being aligned with the Eagles in the near future, obviously when the alignment with EP ends and the Eagles move their base to Lathlain Park.

I imagine most Perth supporters share my view.

The timing surprised me with Vince's comments.
4 years out from the current deal ending and he's making those comments...Vince you may not be in office when such a deal needs to be rubber stamped and it may not even come to fuition afterall we are in such a mess onfield would you want to be aligned with us especially if EP win flag after flag??
A merge is more likely.

I'm not going to panic just yet because it may never happen and if it does i'll put it down to our useless onfield efforts of the past 3 decades and yeah there will probably be supporters(majority) that will be seduced by the fact this may be our only chance of getting off the bottom albeit under a different guise.

Our supporter base is dropping off already at an alarming rate and i can tell you i'm ready to jump off myself and it has absolutely nothing to do with an alignment.
Our decision making in all things onfield is as poor as it gets,we make Melbourne football club look a million bucks compared to us.
For example we sacked our coach near on 3 months ago and we still dont have a new guy in the post!!!

Maybe its time to do a Port Adelaide and coerce, appoint whatever a TV/Radio/high profile personality to the Presidency!
Theres plenty out there,Mark Readings,Michael Shultz,The Newman Brothers,The guy that was on the ABC(cant think of his name),The current ABC wafl commentator, the ex Govenor General...etc.....
People that would be well connected to getting the job done.

If we dont get this right onfield in 2015 then yeah its just a matter of time before we merge, become the aligned club whatever you want to call it but we wont be the Perth Demons wearing red and black.

What I was thinking about timing was Vince waited until after our season finished. Didn't want to face Perth members and supporters Vince?

Who is the ex GG? McCusker? There is a bloke in high places. ABC bloke you are thinking of is Peter Kennedy. Also Clint Wheeldon.

I've got a bloke in mind who would be brilliant as the voice for change. He's already spoken out about the need for change at Perth.

Michael Jeffery is the ex Govenor General,if you look at most any photo of the guy he always has his red and black stripped tie on.

I reckon we need a "high profile" guy as the President, you only need to look at Port Adelaide and the change that was almost immediate under Koshi.
Those personalities i listed i reckon most would have an impact and all for the good of the PFC!!

Interesting post 30+
Not sure where the merge suggestion comes from.
What's in a merger for PFC.
SD with a debt of nearly $1m.
Don't think so.
EP? Basket case financially that's why Bronte did the deal.
Not sure Bronte will let his deal with WCE leave East Perth too easily.
PFC 3rd most financial club in the league.
Horrible year onfield, and I was worried about a loss.
Marty saying we'll make a profit.
Just about to sign a 20 year lease on Lathlain with the Town of Victoria Park, in our own right.
Not sure about a merger, why would we take on other people's problems?

I was just generalising about the 2 possibilities,my post was more about onfield failure and the need to go down the Port Adelaide path with a high profile president that can get this club back on track after 3 decades in the wilderness and in the process thwart any clubs afl or wafl from any posssibilities other than us being the PFC at Lathlain.
If EP are happy as the aligned club and win a flag or 2 in the next 4 years i cant see the Eagles wanting to then give a sorry outfit like us the alignment..can you?
So i guess i was angling more a merger is more likely than a sole alignment,as i see it.

It doesnt make things any easier when 3 months ago we sacked our coach and we still dont have a person in the job.

Understand 30+.
We are all very very frustrated.
I must admit I'm just about over it, had enough I think.
Yes we need change at the top, but alas I'm not sure that anybody obvious is there that can do the job.
It's not just the Pres it's the hangers on.
Other than football Director and the Junior Director, I don't think any of them actually do anything.
What concerns me is the counsel, and direction that the Pres is getting and from whom he is getting it.
No Kochy in sight I'm afraid.

Was happy to hear Marty say on 91.3 Redlegs Radio, that the job was re-advertised because a couple of names came to light and he wanted to give the Club every chance to get a good one. Not sure who the names were but he mentioned the timing of the finish of the AFL season and commitments.

Marty has done a pretty good job with the financial side of the Club and as far as decision making for the on-field stuff is concerned I'm hoping he has control (I think he may).

I think Vince has been visiting his villa in France.

Understand your frustration 30+ I have the same one.

I'm leading towards Shane Woewodin. Played over 200 AFL games, Brownlow Medallist, played and coached at WAFL level over the last 10 years and has spent four years as an AFL Assistant.

With the other names that have been linked, Woewodin is the one that stands out for me.

I reckon if it was Woewodin he would have been announced by now,i think they must be looking at someone else still involved with a team be it as an assistant or head coach.

For mine we need someone who is experienced and has coached in more than just 1 final for mine Woewodin doesnt fit the bill.
Woewodin is probably a better fit with a team that is already thereabouts.

I still hope and have my fingers crossed we can land a guy like Gary Ayres.

I do understand coaching the PFC is not the most inspiring job going around and getting the "right" bloke with a good CV is probably unrealistic!

We are paying the price big time for keeping Mcmahon 1 year longer in the job than we should have!!
