Turn it up Northy, the WAFL players are far superior and train a lot harder, thats just scratching the surface. Could you see an amateur all stars knocking off our State team could you ?

Yes they need to improve their disposals and marking but they are competitive, so not as bad as people think.

IMO, the club is right to operate within it's means. Quality recruits do not fall out of trees and they cost.. salary and points caps, salaries, relocation and resettlement costs, jobs etc.

Good governance of a WAFL club is a tricky business. We are at the lower end of the sponsorship scale and wealthy benefactors don't fall out of trees either.

In recent times a WAFL club or two have spent big time on players and are now suffering with 3 digit+ $k debts and little to show for it.

Frankly, I prefer the PFC approach even with the 35 year drought that haunts us.

I think sometimes we recruit good players that aren't necessarily must gets.
For example do/did we need to recruit 3 x Mortons??
I think 1 less with points and salary could have been spent on a recruit that should have had "high priority" stamped on it EG.Tall KP,Quality mid etc...

Quality recruits don't fall out of trees i agree but the recruiting of Ross Young,Paul Bevan,Mitch Morton etc... shows we can get them,no-one has said it's easy to get them but they are out there and it is the difference between taking the next step or treading water in the same spot.

Theres a Sellar story for every club ala Robbins and Perth they are just the downers that happen in footy,dust yourself off and get on with it.

Talking about EP ruckman, we should have chased Higgins. He was the league back up for Johnson for a fair part of the season. He's got no chance of playing league this year.

No Astros he's gone to Bendigo league. Ended up playing 8 seasons with the Dees.
