Perth and Subi played out a draw today. Not sure what the strength of the Subi side was. No team list for them was available. We looked close to full strength.

Sinclair, McInnes and Busher were our best. DBW played which was a pleasant surprise and I thought he was good. Ajang Ajang couldn't be any fitter. He looks ripped. Got first hands on it but didn't do much else. He needs a specialist ruck coach IMO.

Nicho played exclusively on the wing and looked at home there. Busher played down back and I'd say that's where he will play most of the season. Moved well and looked in great shape. Fingers crossed for him.

Ressies had a good win but the colts got flogged by 100 points I heard but apparently had 14 out due to Covid.

I think our backline looks solid and plenty of forward options but midfield is where we will struggle.

Can we please ensure the three umpires from yesterday’s scratchie never umpire any of our games in the regular season.

Good to read that you thought our BOG was Sinclair, McInnes and  Busher.  According to WAFL web site Sing and Grey were our BOG.  Not happy to read Busher playing in the back line though. I think we need him at FF swapping with Fraser at CHF. Goals:2 - K Hug, J Clark 1 - B Ainsworth, S Stubbs, J Hunter, K Nicholas, F Mcinnes, M BennellBest:C Sing, B Gray, K Nicholas, F Mcinnes, J Hunter, M TaylorReports:Nil.

I am not sure that Bush will play a defensive role on a permanent basis. Our back six are arguably our best lines.. Sinclair, Taylor (fully fit), Giblett, Avery, Coniglio, and Hill  with perhaps Turner, Davis and Nicholas also available.
IMHO, Bush is our best key forward and the whole forward structure should be built around him and McInness.
I like the idea of Nicho in a more running midfield role. Likewise Davis. Either would add dash through the middle.
I believe that Ainsworth went well against his old team ?? Any comments?
As we have become accustomed, it is difficult to fully assess our prospects from scratchie form but we can still learn something from it.
I look forward to my first look at how we are building for the season at our final hit-out next Saturday.

Ainsworth holds onto the ball too long. Not the only one. He did some good things but I’d hate to be relying on him to kick it to me because I’d be waiting a while. Sing did a good job on Suckhole. This idea of Bush being our key forward, seriously if we can get three quarters of the season out of him with his history and age that would be huge. He’ll play anywhere and everywhere he’s needed. He was an absolute general in the backline yesterday, admittedly against a pop gun $ attack. Hunter played fwd and tried hard but no way was he amongst the best players. Same with Gray who tagged Kitchen. Magic did some good things too.

I agree. It's so so poor. But I have to keep looking in in case they lift their game
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Dazz, did Ethan Bakic play ressies?
As he is 194cm I am interested to see if he is a prospect.

no he didn’t. here is the list of who played the ressies game

wafl.com.au/match/preseason-wafl-reserve...subiaco-round-3-2022

In the league we were missing Smith, Avery, Giblett amd Cary. McPartland played ressies but would be on my list of ins. Mayne was running some drills with J Busher and a couple of others before the game and i get the sense he might be priming for a game sooner or later

Magic looked a bit lost at times but will find his feet as we works with the fwd line. Hug looked like he will be more than handy. I can’t see Peletier or Kenny keeping their spots. All in it was a good performance though with more improvement to come

Interesting to see Harry Quartermaine kicked 5 goals in the reserves first scratchy and 3 goals 4 behinds in the second.  I've heard his name mentioned a few times last year as a colt. Does anyone know much about him?
