Was very impressed with young Jack Steel (no.58) for the Dees yesterday.
Strong hands and a nice kick, you have a real good one there.

DS, I think players leaving is just a prediction based on our age profile and our immediate prospects. We have 5 players over 30 (6 before Masten retired), 3 are 28 and 3 are 27. If you are that age, suffering recurrent injuries and your club picks up the wooden spoon, you can see why there would be a lack of motivation to go through it all again. I honestly don't know what message the club can sell to try to keep players at the club and attract new ones. I guess all we can say is that we will be contenders with a better injury outlook. Will players believe that? I'm not  sure I do. All the enthusiasm and optimism from last season is long gone.

Better make room for another 2 Wooden Spoons. What a downright disappointing 2021!
With WCE Reserves winning and Perth on a familiar trejectory it seems that is now on the cards. More concerning is the lower grades are not offering much promise. 2020 looks like a flash in the pan.

We need to be honest with ourselves and accept that it is highly unlikely we would have made the finals in 2020 in a full season. Eventually Subi would have got players back from injury and tipped us out. What I thought was important about 2020 was the boost to confidence and enthusiasm. We seemed to build on that by picking up Langlands and Smith, and with Masten and Byrne returning from injury, most people believed we were the real deal. No doubt our season has been derailed by injury but my concern is what impact another wooden spoon is going to have on the confidence and belief of players.

TOVP set to meet to decide in the middle of August. I think it might come down to what Perth FC wants and TOVP is prepared to contribute.
Do you still think the old grandstand will be getting demolished at the end of this season?  They’re leaving it a bit late in the year to get everything finalised. Some communication from the club would be nice.

I believe the the club has fallen well short of the grants it hoped to receive and they are relying on the TOVP to make up the rest. So it comes down to how much they are prepared to tip in. If it falls short the club should put the development off otherwise they will be cutting corners and end up with something inadequate and we will be stuck with it for the next 50 years.

Thats odd because everything from the club over the last 2-4 years has indicated that we have the grants from Federal, State etc.

1. $4 Million from the Federal Government

Morrison Government Commit $4m to Lathlain Park Redevelopment | Perth Football Club News (perthfc.com.au)

2. $4 Million from the State Government

3. $1 Million from West Coast Eagles

4. TOVP to fund any shortfall but have committed to a maximum of $5 Million.

Perth Finalises Redevelopment Funding | Perth Football Club News (perthfc.com.au)

So we have $9 Million already committed and potentially up to $14 Million.

LPRP - Town welcomes final piece of the puzzle - Victoria Park The Town of Victoria Park welcomes the State Government’s funding announcement of $4 million towards a new community and sports facility as part of the $71 million Lathlain Precinct Redevelopment Project. The new facility will be home to the Perth Football Club, with additional uses for the broader community. Mayor Karen Vernon said “This zone is the final piece of the puzzle in completing this ambitious project.  Securing funding for this zone is an important milestone for our community.”  “The current clubhouse and grandstand are very old.  The new facilities will enhance the local area, provide a real boost to WAFL football, and particularly women’s football, as well as creating spaces for local community groups to host a range activities.” Council has made funding for the final zone a key advocacy priority over the last few years. Mayor Vernon said “We are grateful to the member for Victoria Park, Ben Wyatt, for his support and thank him for all his efforts in helping us to obtain this funding.  We also thank the Perth Football Club and members of our community who have joined in calling for this funding for a long time.” The rest of the project funding comprises $4 million committed by the Federal Government in the 2019 election, $1 million from the West Coast Eagles, and up to $5 million committed by the Council. The plans will be guided by the Lathlain Zone 1 Project Advisory Group comprised of members of the community, councillors, Perth Football Club and the WA Football Commission. Following and subject to adoption of the concept plan, preliminary works are expected to start in late 2021.

The way Bob Shields was talking at the start of the year it sounded like it was a done deal
Im sure he quoted “The grand stand will be knocked down straight after the 2021 footy season”
Dont know what’s happened between then and now?

I'm pretty sure he said the same thing 30plus. Also I'm pretty sure he said that a new facility should cost around $14-15 Million. So not really sure what the hold up is and we haven't heard anything. If there has been a delay then as a member it would be nice to be informed.
