Don your rose coloured glasses! It's way too early for a starting lineup, but that's what the silly season is for innit. I'm keen to hear what others think is our best 22. I rarely get to catch the ressies so will no doubt be missing 1 or 2.

Some assumptions i made here:
1. That Loersch can actually run and tonk a few marks.
2. That the Claremont lads Reid and Hitchcock (and Ryan Murphy) are up to scratch. Particularly Reid who seems promising as a mobile ruck, but unproven at league level. Eyres scrapes in as backup ruck after his efforts in the final.
3. That Lague has overcome his injury (unsure if Langdon is up to it, so maybe Sinclair to CHB)
4. That Yeo will take a while to shift the weight and find form

I've heard great things about Hayward, Morecomb and Sanderson. I presume they will start off in the ressies then push for selection soon after. Thoughts?

Close Satan. I don’t think Lague would play chb. If fit I would see him in another defensive role.
I think Hill will retain his place at the start. He seemed to regain his confidence by season end.
I cannot see English on Hbf flank ....too small. I see him as a running player. He is a ball magnet but would have to improve his kicking quite a bit imo.
I do not know whether Loersch was recruited as a ruckman or a tall forward. At 203 cm he may be used in the ruck with Reid up forward.
Whatever, I hope that we will have a ruck COACH on board for the season.

Cheers Smokey. You're right, Loersch is actually one who could lead the ruck and rest in the forward line and take some marks and snag a couple. That could be the role best suited as opposed to permanent forward, and one we've been screaming for for god knows how long.
The only thing is who takes the FF position.

I take your point on Lague at CHB. Wouldn't it be nice if Jaiden Hunter stayed around eh? He did a brilliant job as an undersized ruck in colts through necessity, but is a natural CHB i'm told. I don't think we'll see him any time soon though.

Loersch imo has been recruited as the McDonald replacement and will play as the FF with a pinch hitting role in the ruck.

Yes, I assume Satan forgot Taylor. I thought Fisher played his best footy on a wing, so I'd have him and Smith or English. CHB is a tough one. I like Sinkers playing an intercept marking role, rather than a close checking one, so I'd rather not have him CHB. However, I don't think Langdon is good enough. That only leaves Hill, who can be a bit undersized against some key forwards. With the forwards, I still have a lot of faith in Johnson, if he can get fit, as a third tall. Jones, Burke or Cary could also play that role. I like Regan Clarke, who should step up. If we need a tagger, Payne comes in, otherwise, I can't see a place for him. Then there may be some colts pushing for selection in Hunter and Meloncelli. At this stage, I am not prepared to back any of the Claremont guys or the guy from Sydney in for a starting berth. Hopefully we can have some depth this season - there is also Nicholas, Edmonds, and Davis so that we will only need to play guys like Quill, Browne, Hansen or Hendo in an emergency.

At 203cm I think we recruited Loersch as a ruck option.
We have spent 10 points on him so we must have some plans for him.
Reid also has good HO stats but is only 197cm but looks a good type.
I wonder if he is seen as a back up ruckman resting forward.
Could Stubbs play a role at FF?

The one recruit we really need is a ruck coach.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

Seems no-one has any faith left in Roe. Not a lot of love for DBW either.
