I would also say that this recruiting puts an end to anyone’s thoughts that we could be involved in any alignment.

We wanted a tall forward - tick
We wanted a ruckman - tick
We wanted another midfielder - 2 ticks
Have we addressed our most urgent needs? Perhaps only time will tell.

Hmm top two big ??? for mine. Loersh couldn’t crack a league game for EF who finished 8th out of 9 with a percentage of 69.85 and struggled to kick goals in the two’s. Can only hope it was mental knowing the coach doesn’t rate you. Ajang Ajang looked like he’d been in a good paddock when I saw him this year but I assume he played under Mossy in colts so he must rate him.

Rather ticks then no ticks mate....be interesting to see if WCE or more likely Freo have a look at English....pretty hard for the kid to break into that Richmond back to back premiership winning side....but good for the comp if English suits up for Perth. Ajang definitely would add a bit excitement to the Perth ruck stocks....Smith was that ex Magpie from memory who played a game or two at WCE also....mid or half back?

None of these names are exciting me too much. English, Ajang and Smith would be handy, but not match winners. Loersch needs to show some significant improvement just to crack a league game. Clark and Hitchcock seem to be reserves players. Clark is young enough to improve. Of course, with no reserves stats, it's impossible to get a feel for how they have been faring. Perhaps some of the Claremont posters might know? Vardy was rumoured a while back - any news there? All up, I'd say if we lose McDonald, O'Driscoll, Grey, Fisher, McInnes, Dela and pick up the players mentioned, plus Yeo and Byrne back, I'd day we would be, on paper, somewhat weaker than this season.

TN I think we can take Vardy out of our thinking.
Particularly if Hickey gets traded to Sydney which seems likely.

Not sure how much rucking Loersch has done.
But with his height I wonder if they see an opportunity to develop his skills.

Al we can do is trust that the club has done its homework on Loersch and decided that he is better than 7 goals in 6 reserves games suggest. On the face of it, selecting an under-performing 10 point player before we know who else might be available after the AFL draft seems risky. But I can only assume the club has considered whether any other key forwards are likely to be available, and thought not. He may be seen as a replacement for Dela, that is, a forward who can help in the ruck occasionally. If nothing else, some height up forward helps us structurally, in terms of quicker and more direct forward entries. But if Loersch is the marking target, we need a leading forward and a small forward. I'd like to see Stubbs in a pocket - he came to the club as a goal kicker, and we have enough midfield depth not to need him there.

TN, I think we need a tall key forward to replace Logan. I am not suggesting Loersch will perform better than Logan but he is 203cm and that alone will make defenders a tad jittery. Perhaps with his size he can at least give a contest and then it will be up to the small forwards to capitalise.
Agree re Stubbs. I did liken him to a sort of Sokol type who can find the ball off hands or on a lead and knows where the goals are.
Then we need small forwards under the ball...McPartland, English, Clarke etc to come into play.
I think that we must be wary of continually bombing the ball in hoping for Loersch & McInness to mark it.
Can anyone confirm whether or not Jye Clark is a brother of Jordan Clark and son of our CEO Russell Clark?

Jye listed as from Marist.
Benjamin listed from SAcotch/Swanbourne.
I'm thinking it may be Benjamin who is Russel's son.
Remembering Russel spent time in Albany.

Yes Smokey Jye is Russell's youngest I think. Are there two Clark's on our list? That would be the other one as well I'd say.
