You can't compare WAFL players with AFL players who are sometimes drafted to the other side of the country at a young age.

Who gives a fuck. When the Leggett saga commenced the footy world was completely different and we needed to stand our ground. Now we need to make room for Fraser, Fisher and Brady. Missed the point that AFL clubs will pick players up if they believe they are talented enough to add value to their squad, whether they have had ongoing medical issues ie Bennell or sit out a season because they allegedly are home sick like McCarthy.
Nic Reid left Claremont in 2014, played ammos for North Beach for 4 years before West Coast Ressies recruited him and then WC drafted him last year because they believe he's talented enough.

I think you will find that is changing since McCarthy was traded to Fremantle and Bennell (Harley I assume), I think clubs have seen a change in the behaviour aspect, now it's about talent and giving him a go.

Digressing but Melbourne coach isn't giving him any favours, apparently was dropped last week for his defensive deficiencies and told he won't be picked until they see improvement in that area. So that's a little wake up call for Harley.
