Rnd 2 v SF 2012. Blow a 50 point 3 qtr time lead to lose by 8 points.

I’m curious how long Leggett’s name was off the list and how quickly EF found out. Sounds like they were tipped off.

And according to KFC on the EF thread, JT updated his breaking story with this.

"It is the second time in three years that Perth have lost a required player due to a registration error.

Perth paid West Perth $5000 to clear ruckman Tim Sutherland in 2017 but he was able to move to Subiaco for free three months later because the Demons had failed to register him.

Perth players were furious at training on Wednesday when Shields told them of Leggett’s release.

The Perth board, staff and players had been adamant that Leggett would not be cleared with Shields saying in February the matter had galvanised the club."

Wonderful stuff boys. Well done. You have made a complete fool of everyone. And Cody and EF get the last laugh.

It would appear the clearance deadline had been moved from 30/06 to 31/07.
There must be some clear instructions min the instruction manual for de-registering a player.
This is no excuse, important actions like de-registering a player should have some checks and balances.
Like being signed off by the Football Manager and the CEO.

Cody Leggett’s bitter clearance dispute ended in a fiasco when the long-kicking utility joined his target club East Fremantle because accident-prone Perth had inadvertently deregistered him.

The subject of a nine-month dispute during which Perth repeatedly refused to clear the talented utility player to the Sharks, saying it was a matter of principle that Leggett be held to his contract, the matter turned into a debacle this week when the Demons removed him from their primary playing list.
Leggett’s contract was voided once he was deregistered.

East Fremantle promptly registered the 24-year-old and intend to play him in their reserves scratch match against Claremont tomorrow morning.

They will pay Perth an $8000 transfer fee, well down on the $20,000 they offered the Demons when Leggett declared last year he wanted to join them this season.
Perth president Bob Shields confirmed that Leggett’s deregistration was an inadvertent administrative error.

“We will deal with it and be the stronger for it,” he said.
“We will take the transfer fee and get on with winning football games.”

Any Football Manager worth his salt would be checking opposition player movements a few times a day and thats obviously what the EF FM did. I doubt the Perth players would be pissed off at all, his name would have been mud around Lathlain. Its a blunder that shouldn't have happened but I would regard it as a blessing if this happened at WP !

Good post Leedy, I agree. Let's get on with playing footy. And Cody can do the same at EF and that's good for the comp.

Not sure as muddy as you indicate Leedy, didn't Masto and Mcinnes try some last minute persuasion to get Leggett back to MRP? Agree with the blessing though, time will tell I guess who won this battle and who didn't....been good banter though....onwqrds and hopefully upwards for both clubs
