isn't "unrepresentative swill" a Paul Keatingism on the Senate? particularly accurate in this instance though as the good burghers of Freo I've spoken to don't support the Council. I was at the Lilly Street Lasagna Bake-off a couple of weekends ago and there was a general groundswell of discontent amongst the locals and that idiot Pettitt showed up and got a bit of stick...and rightly so.

That's because the Premier had NO Mandate to do it Bazza.That didn't stop him declaring War in other forms and then greasing the wheel of Mayors and Councillors,plus Develoment Assessment Panels,Real Eastate Agents,Developers,etc,they did like.

Mandate, do they exist anymore, term thrown around ad hoc and ignored, Abbott won the election and the Senate blocked everything he put up, Barnett won the election and the Local Gov Act gave him the power to do it.

My local useless western burbs fiefdom is still raking in the rates for SFA service delivery. All while I can walk about five minutes either North, South or West and be the four different councils, all feathering their own beds.

Had FCC merged with that postage stamp municipality of East Freo TC and a bit of Cockburn as planned there is a good chance they would have a more representative council than the mongs they have now.

Gents, at the end of the day Pettit was only doing this stunt to grab headlines, he does this type of thing from time to time to grab headlines to feed his insatiable ego
