Top order leaving too much for the lower order.

And our bowling going astray at times.

This side is no where near as good as we have been.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

To be honest 58, I thought Hadden was out immediately after he played the shot as there was a clear noise as the ball passed the bat. I was surprised that England did not have more conviction in their appeal but unfortunately for Australia they had referrals available. I also saw a faint mark on hot spot when it was shown on the TV & snikko also registered a snick as the ball passed the bat.

This test match was decided by who used the DRS the best, ALeem Dar should not be aloud to umpire a test match ever again.
His non decision when Broad hit the cover off the ball to first slip would have to be one of the worst in test cricket history, ironic isn't it that Broad added another 30 runs.

Despite the flaws this Australian side has, particularly in the batting, I thought there was a clear change in their attitude & application as a side. They showed on this occasion that they could legitimately challenge a far stronger side on paper & they never gave in at any stage & I think they should be proud of the overall effort they put into this game.

I think the game was won & lost in Australia's first innings when they collapsed to be 9 down & were still a 100 runs behind. Although they recovered to post a useful lead, it was not quite enough to put England away.

A very good test match that unfortunately we were not quite good enough to win, but if Australia can play with this level of effort & intensity over a sustained period I am confident they can get to the top again.

Cowan is probably the only player I would look at changing in the team as he looked as loose as a broken gate in a cyclone. His dismissal to Root in the second innings was an unnecessary & crucial blow.

Apart from Agar, who exceeded the wildest expectations, there were also decent contributions from Hughes, Smith, Hadden, Watson & Rogers with the bat & all the bowlers with the ball. It was a really even team performance that fell just short. A far improvement from the recent debacles in India & the Champions Trophy.
