He ain't no number 11. Highest score on test debut batting at 11. Highest score by an Aussie at 11. Simply superlative batting. 112 from 128 balls after losing 5 for 8 from 32 balls. Well done to phil Hughes too.

I'm loving this!
Mind you, he is only a West Aussie cos we gave him a chance and brought him over from Victoria. Still a warrior though!
11 first class games and four 50's - think about it!

He is a proven test performer and I was stunned when he was dropped to be honest. I think England could have been bowled out for 150 which would have put Australia in a far better position. Agar is without doubt a very promising bowler, but he was thrown to the wolves a bit I thought.

As for today, it looks like it is going to be cloudy in the first session which is a bummer as Anderson and co will be licking their lips. Apparently Broad is injured though so he might not be able to bowl. The sun will burn through at lunchtime and Australia's challenge is to still be batting by then as it will no doubt get easier as the day goes on. Massive opportunity for Smith and Hughes, really hope that they can take it.

I bow to Boofs superior knowledge, what an innings by Australia's new all rounder. Forget Watson

I rate the kid very highly, I reckon he is already Australia's best spinner.

Looked very comfortable at the crease.

This kid can play.

Why am I not surprised, just look at his batting under pressure for WA. He does under pressure!!

Pity he missed his century he fully deserved it.

Now for his bowling, as a wicket keeper who kept to a left armer, I am fully aware of how hard the wrong'un can be to pick.

Yes and long live test cricket.

Too right, Joan. Well done to both Agar & Hughes & Smith to get us that lead. Unbelievable stuff from Agar. It is a shame he & also Hughes missed out on 100's, but they have given Australia a fighting chance in this test. Agar really cashed in on his good fortune as he could possibly have been out stumped on 6 by the 3rd umpire.

Really pleasing to see the Pattinson & Starc follow up with excellent opening spells in England's second innings to have them 2 down.

How sweet it is to be able to watch this test on free to air television. I also have to give credit to Botham & the rest of the English commentary team for their praise of both Agar & Hughes.

Evenin DF....so we both like a bottle of decent Pinot and both were wikkees B) totally agree with you, picking a good lefty's wrong-un was a nightmare even on a good day, especially when the bowler himself wasn't sure which way it was going!!! Agar's innings tonite reminded me of why I once loved the game of cricket. Stunning stuff!!!
