Unfortunately Australia produced an even more shambolic performance with the bat. If India had taken all their chances the final total would have been less than 150. The tone was set by the stroke less opening partnership. I thought the idea of putting Wade up the top of the order was for him to attack and put the pressure back on the bowlers, well the bowlers were obviously too good for that. Burns is just an embarrassment, he would struggle to get runs in grade cricket at the moment. Apart from Labuschagne and Paine the rest of the top 6 fell pretty meekly and it was left to the bowlers to assist the score up to 191
Despite the late wicket the Australians are now looking down the barrel at a hefty defeat as Bumrah, Shami, Yadav and Ashwin seem to be a bit too good for them. The only hope is to skittle them for under 200 tomorrow but any target over 250 will be too much for this wobbly batting group

The Indian bowlers did well without question but the Australian batting was horrible. Wade and Burns opening the batting is as it appears - very daft. Anyone know if S.Marsh and Harris are available for boxing day?

Harris is not up to Test cricket TE he is worse than Burns whilst Wade is just a makeshift opener until Warner & Pucovski are back in hopefully in time for the Melbourne Boxing Day Test.

Right you are BH - yeah I am barking up the wrong tree with those two. Warner and Pucovski sounds much better.

Lets face it mate outside of Smith, Warner & Labuschagne our batting line up is awful.
Green & Pucovski are 2 for the future but the likes of Burns, Harris, Wade are not Test standard batsmen whilst Head who is the one who constantly goes under the radar but serious heat (a blowtorch) should be applied to him!

Sheesh, Jeepers I didnt see that Indian batting collapse coming.
Knocked over for 36 yes 36, India's lowest EVER Test score and the equal 4th lowest score in Test history.
Cummins (4/21) & Hazlewood ( 5/8 ) put on an absolute bowling masterclass with good support from Starc.
For once the opposition bats were knicking everything behind and we were catching them all unlike the Indians.

The test lasted just over 2 and a half days - so pretty disappointing really. Even worse batting then the Aussies at Trent bridge 5 years ago. Well to Melbourne next and hopefully a tougher test for us. Melbourne weather should see it make it to a fourth day you would think.

I have never seen a day of test cricket like that. India had worked hard for 2 days to take a reasonable advantage into day 3, then in the space of 90 minutes they were completely blown away by Cummins and Hazlewood. It was as near perfect a bowling performance as you could see. They were both pretty much unplayable and the Indians were nicking everything. Kohli was the only one who might have counterattacked and tried to get them up to a 150 lead but even that would have been tough to defend.

Burns finally got a bit of fluency in the 2nd half of his innings and has probably cemented his spot for the rest of the series as I doubt if they will risk Pucovski against Bumrah and Co.

This will be a tough one for India to recover from given the magnitude of the collapse and the impending loss of Kohli. They will probably bring in some experience in Rohit Sharma and Rahul as reinforcement. If Shamis injury is serious they will have to bring in a less experienced bowler as Ishant Sharma is not in the touring party I believe.

If Warner is fit, one of Wade, Head or Green will make way for him. I would be inclined to omit Wade to be honest, tough on him given that he made a good fist of the 2nd innings chase. I think they need to keep playing Green now that they have picked him and he gives the Australians another bowling option.

Spot on Mike....can't see Burns getting the flick just yet....tho pretty sure Archer, Wood et al are a tad quicker then Bumrah et al...son not sure when Aust will find the right time to roll him out...Green surely must play in Melbourne....usually a road there, so respite will be needed by Green....

I see Warner is already in Melbourne so you would expect he will go close to being available for Boxing Day, I just hope Green keeps his place and either Head or Wade go out, Head for yet another very soft dismissal would be my choice atm!
I think they will keep Pucovski out for the short term with his constant concussion issues.

Green should hold his spot especially with his bowling. Wadey is popular amongst the group so just make him 12th man. Bring Patto in for the MCG test to keep the Victorians happy and drop one of the NSW quicks to make way for him. I would also bring Handscomb in for Head and Harris for Burns.

Why stop there TE why not bring in- Julien Wiener, Dav Whatmore, Jeff Moss, Richie Robinson, Ian Callen, Jim Higgs and a host of other ordinary Vics in to keep the Sictorians happy on BD!

Warner in to open with Burns. Head out and Wade drops down the batting order. Green will keep his place surely after just one test and also if the MCG turns into a road like it usually does after day 1 they'll need his bowling to give the 3 quicks a break....so Warner in, Head out and Wade to bat at #5.
