Franklin gave about 8 or 9 years of service to Hawthorn and helped them win two flags. He probably thought he needed a change and never harboured dreams of playing in his home state. Judd was a Victorian. Name one marquee player from WC or Fremantle that switched clubs? You had the opportunity to take Fyfe before us, who was it you took instead? Masten? We've got one of the best coaches in the business. Good luck.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

At the moment they are up S/Creek without a paddle. They fielded their best side possible on the weekend. Only two players unavailable due to injury according to the West injured list were Waters and Glass, so they had a full list to pick from.
They lack pace, have too many front runners and their ruck at the moment is deplorable.Cox have virtually no influence on the game,I am not sure if he is injured or not but he is not playing well.
Nic Nat, well he just has to get better. They have two ruckmen in the twos, Sinclair and Lycett, who would give more than Nic Nat at the moment.

Their mids are a lot od front runners I think, only Priddis gives everything every week.He is a plus for sure.Others like Shuey, Gaff & Masten are good when the Eagles are going well. Wellingham has given nothing to the club as of yet and needs to improve greatly.
Yeo is still young and learning but makes too many mistakes, Cripps goes well when the side is going well, doesn't work hard enough.
Le Cras has been missed and is probably the most important forward that they have. Kennedy and Darling are good players but the mids are not getting the ball to them and when they do it is not delivered well.
I see the back line as being their one real strength at least they turn up to play every week.
Fromhere I see losses to Hawthorn, maybe win against GC,loss to the Saints, loss to Dockers, loss to Sydney, loss to Lions, loss to Adelaide, loss to Collingwood, loss to Essendon, win against Melbourne, loss to GC at Metricon.
I think it is going to be a very dim dark year for the Eagles.Maybe a few like Shuey and Gaff will be looked at as draft bait at the end of the season.
So what do you think of that Bazza, you think I am right?
Forgot to mention Josh Hill a wasted spot on the list.Very very much a front runner, easy to see why the Doggies traded him.

Nic Nat definitely didnt have a bad game. He tackled hard, was solid in the ruck and kicked a goal.

I was unfortunately at the game and it just seemed that WCE didnt want to be out there, excluding a few players. Kennedy seems to have lost the ability to mark the footy but the mids just arent kicking it well. The disposal at WCE at the moment is absolutely deplorable. Even McManus would have a better DE% than most of the WCE players at the moment.

Completely agree.

Sorry guys, I might be quoting a few posts. Got 7 pages to catch up on!

OK old fella, but it's hard when you don't know which WCE outfit is going to show up. IF they play their A game Hawks - loss. GC - win. Saints - win. Docks - finally a win. Sydney - loss. Lions - win. Adelaide - win if it's home loss if it's away. Wobblers - loss. Peppy boys - win. Dees - win. GC - toss of the coin and it's...it's....it's ...win. No idea here that would place them on the ladder, but if they take last Sunday's team with them they'll lose the effin lot!

Mr AFL wrote: BTB is right. Adam Simpson is 10 games into a senior coaching role after 5-6 years as an assistant. Worsfold was a man that knew what he wanted and he knew how to get it. Nothing against Simpson but I reckon the Eagles could have appointed a senior assistant for a couple of years just to help him out.

The midfield is the obvious area that needs improving. I don't think that the overall squad was left in a poor state but there's definitely a case to say this side on paper is good enough to play finals.

I reckon there is a strong case to be mounted for the trading of Andrew Gaff, Chris Masten to try and get an inside player or one with pace. Callum Sinclair is another who could be offered back to a Victorian club and you might be able to get a pick between 25-35 for him.

I think people are judging Simmo too soon, after all, he was highly respected at the hawks. Gaff looks a bit disinterested, so offer him up, keep Masten, keep Sinclar - got me effed why Lycett seems to be the flavour of the month - offer him up too. Sinclair has a bit of Cox in his play  ..did I really say that?? Lots say that Rosa is brilliant, but I haven't seen that for some time..same with Shuey. Gotta say that I love Jamie Bennell's work though.

By radio, North should have been home & hosed by 1/2 time, hard to get an indication on radio how slippery and wet it was though. Plenty of skill errors by both sides

Watching replay, a different view albeit knew the result, North not as good as it sounded on radio, and Eagles were truely horrible, looked like some blokes just did not have a red hot go , due to who knows. How many disposals did Le Cras, Kennedy & Darling get in quarter 2 and 3 ?

Eagles at where we they were last year, but Woosha not there now for all to blame

Where did I I say anything about pulling players out of his arse ? Eagles supporters were all gooing flags after 3 rounds, yet you played 3 crap teams.

mikeh wrote: I think the Eagles have a pretty good forward line, an OK defence. Their weakness is in the midfield and they have a number of players who are have not developed as expected over the last few years. Priddis is their best and most consistent player in this area, but even he is not in the same class as guys like Fyfe, Mundy, Hill and Barlow. The Eagles would love one or two of the Dockers mids.

Don't fully agree Mike. They have a damn good defence and an ok forward line. Yep, their midfield hasn't come on as well as they thought it would and they have been left behind there. Not to worry, Fyfe will be running around in the blue & gold next year ;)
