Bit early yet anchor...we're all still cricketised atm! I'm slowly digesting that big fat turd that the AFL and WAFL dropped on us, but I reckon I'll be back ;)

It would be great if:

north either went back to the vfl or merged with gc.

Footscray either went back to the vfl or merged with gws.

St Kilda either went back to the vfl or merged with Port (and Port to get a new nick name and jumper - say the Falcons with West Perths jumper - they have to garner more support)

15 team comp with everyone playing the other 14 teams twice for a 28 round comp.

Every game would be a block buster.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

GWS are here to stay as GWS for the next 20 years guaranteed, however I wouldn't be surprised if they become more Canberra based eventually as its a more Australian Rules intrenched than Sydney - possibly due to the influx of Victorians in the 1960's and 1970's taking up jobs with the Gov.

Footscray are back in the VFL, and are playing at Whitten Oval in 2014.

Footscray's AFL Team Western Bulldogs are the team to watch... They have Brownlow possibilities in Libba and Griffen, and Rising Stars in Hunter, Stringer and a few others in my opinion.

The dogs are building something...

They have their hand out now, they had their hand out 20 years ago and they will have their hand out in 50 years time.

They average an attendance 50% lower than the power clubs of Vic atm, they averaged 50% lower than the power clubs of Vic 20 years ago and they will average 50% lower than the power clubs of Vic in 50 years time.

Not another $ to them and let the game grow right across Australia instead of a 10 kilometer radius of Melbourne City.

An Irish cousin of mine has just moved over from the emerald isle and was asking me about the Australian game.

Said to me
'so who's this Carlton?'. I told him it's a team 5k's from Melbourne city and that they are a traditionally wealthy club.

He then asked
'so who's Hawthorn?' I told him it's a team 5k's from Melbourne city and that they wear yellow and brown.

He then asked
'so who's Collingwood?' I told him it's the best supported team in the comp and that they are known as a working class club and that they are about 5k's from Melbourne city.

He then asked
'so who's North Melbourne?' I told him it is a club who always has their hand out and that ask to play anywhere that will give them the most revenue but generally play in Melbourne at a loss and that they are about 5k's from Melbourne city.

He then asked
'so who's Richmond?' I told him that they are a very well supported club that have the best song in the comp and that they are located about 5k's from Melbourne city.

He then asked
'so who's Geelong?' I told him that they are a Victorian country club who have had a lot of success of late.

He then asked
'so who's Essendon?' I told him that they are a proud club located about 15k's from Melbourne city.

He then asked
'so who's / what's Western Bulldogs?' I told him they are a club with their hand out located about 10k's form Melbourne city.

He then asked
'so who's St Kilda?' I told him they are a club located about 5k's form Melbourne city.

He then asked is there a team called Perth in this national comp? I told him no there isn't.

He then said he wasn't interested!!

No slogans at the club so far this year Shark. May just have to go with "can you spare some change" whilst rattling tins this year ;)

Interesting side note whilst spending an extremely slow day in the shop yesterday decided to do some catch up reading on the whole saga of 2013. I still haven't condemned my club for eternity and won't do until an infraction notice is proven, too much hearsay for me. Governance yes, performance enhancing I have serious doubts. This is only a Work Safe issue for me. When the AIS itself plugs it's world-leading supplement program one can only shrug in disbelief. Hardly a darkest day in the history of Australian sport as ASADA promoted in my eyes.

Anyway, an article that really caught my eye from mid December in the Australian was an article on why the AFL didn't pursue charges against Doc Reid. Apparently Doc's lawyers issued the AFL with a notice of intent to cross examine the AFL lead investigator Brett Clothier in court at which point the AFL immediately decided against pursuing the Doc. One would think that the head of the AFL Integrity unit would have nothing to hide from you, me or a supreme court judge. By backing down one can only assume that their is much to hide at AFL HQ. The fact that Clothier's evidence against Hird with regards to the Peptide inquiry of Aug 2011 can't be cross-examined being the main point here. One can only hope that eventually the Robinson v Essendon case will land all of the main protaginists here in front of a supreme court judge.

The truth is the only thing that will set the club free. It needs to come out for the sake of our game as a whole. Not the version that the Fatman has tried to smoke screen all of us with. I love my club, and whether for good or bad I want to hear the truth, all of it. i know we are all sick of hearing about this but I'm afraid the stain will still be all over the game until this matter has played out in court. Caro, for one, won't let it go away. Interesting the article in the Age this week about the massive increase Australia-wide in the use of the drugs Hirdy has been accused of using. We only know about these substances in the real world due to the excessive reporting of people such as Caro. Maybe they need a little tap on the shoulder about bad governance let alone code of ethics of the media.

As some of you may have gathered I'm looking at another very slow day in the shop today so am ready and willing to engage some discussion on any topics today. AFL or WAFL, keep em coming.

One more thing Shark, do u know if East Freo filled the vacancy for a Bar & Functions Co-Ordinator they were advertising for in late December???

Hopefully North Melb, Melb, the bulldogs and the saints can all survive in the competition for another 100 years just to annoy TFAF.....

Fair enough DW, but we can only judge your golden boy and your club on what we are told - right or wrong. I think everyone wants it all out in the open so we can see what happens and then move on to the 2014 season. I think enough is enough. As for the EFFC position - where I live, all the news I get is the Swan Districts blurb. Would love to live closer to my club.
