In USSR the government ran sporting codes. That doesn't happen here.

STT is quite right.
The WACA land and all is owned by the WACA
The only reporting mechanism is that the WACA cricket programs must be conducted in a way that aligns with the values of sporting organisations of this state as monitored by Dept of Sport and Rec..
Now the state and commonwealth may have a say on the ground if they decide to tip in some money, but in the meantime if other organisations want to use the WACA ground, then show us the money.
A WAFL club would not be able to afford using the WACA.

.

And the highlighted above is one of the major points in why the WACA will not get the funding they are after for their mooted upgrade!
An $80 million upgrade just to host only a handful of domestic cricket games that get 100 people in attendance...the WACA desperately needs another tenant like a WAFL club before State & Federal would even look at the proposal, there is no point in pricing them out now.

Getting back on topic...it now appears WP's creditors won't receive anything not even 4 cents in the $ according to today's West.

And old Fongy says the membership isn't rallying as much as he would have liked. My question is what campaign are they supposed to be rallying behind? You have to give it a name, a time frame and a purpose and promote it. What Fong means is I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas.

BC your a numbers man which I am not but can you explain how the f**k do WP come up with a $300k++ profit?????? Sounds like a continuation of their past dodgy bookkeeping. If they are saying they have a profit it should go straight to the creditors.

I wouldn't call it a $350k profit SS...I'd call it a surplus of income in it's various forms over expenses but when you take into account it's also made up of a loan from the WAFC of $250k which is due later this year and some sort of credit for the fit-out of the new premises of $380k whatever that may be and creditors getting sfa...without drilling down into the numbers I think they're still in the shit based on that article.

Brian Lawrence was Deputy Principal at my high school in the 70s StT…..a terrific bloke and doesn't surprise me one little bit that he pulled the Dees out of the shit given the nature and character of the man.

Really? That is interesting BC. He ended up Vice Chancellor of ECU. Great man, sorely missed.
