Where do people get the idea that the Government ultimately controls footy or cricket etc in WA. It doesn't - unless you mean by withholding funding?? Why do you say "WAFC under ultimate control of Department of Sport?" This isn't the USSR Southerner.

State Government bailed out the WANFL in 1989 and started up the WAFC as a new board of control and they report to the Dept of Sport as a result everyone in football knows that

Course not. Where do people get these ideas? We do not live in a communist country, if government tried to run cricket or football I assume there would be an uproar. They don't even run the trots or races. They regulate them but don't run them. They don't even regulate cricket or footy.

It's been a point of conjecture of who actually owns the Land is it the PCC , State Guv or the WACA?

Not sure if we are going off topic here S but land ownership rarely a matter of conjecture, the records on this kind of thing pretty good in WA. WACA Ground owned by WACA - but of course subject to local and state govt planning and usage schemes and policies.

Umm GP owned outright by WATA.
Perth Racing (if this new name for WATC) has a 999 year lease on Ascot and own Belmont outright.
WAFC held 99 year lease on Subi…

Land ownership only sort of related to each other but whatever the deal I don't know of any sport in any way "controlled" in the sense you suggest by govt.

They do not report to the Department. Show me the clause in the constitution or whatever that says they do - and in any event there is a difference between giving a report to and reporting to.

In USSR the government ran sporting codes. That doesn't happen here.
