We keep hearing about the crap deal they get at Joondalup, what's the history of it? Why did they sign themselves up for such a crap deal?

I recall they had no control over their bar function area. I thought that was the whole idea they were given a truck load of money to build "their own" facilities. When I raised this the other day someone said Venues West still control the new premises which would make no sense at all.

What is disappointing is no West Perth supporters have shown any interest in coming on here to add any clarity or defend their club. In fact their interest seems to have dropped off well before their financial situation came out late last season. Maybe they all knew what was really going on for a while. Do they care or just living in denial?

For the record i think the Footy commission should and could do a lot more to equalize the comp.

What an absolutely ridiculous outlook.

Precisely , their board voted for it, they can wear it, not our problem.

What they didn't vote for after they made the brave move north was for the WAFC to pull the biggest Junior clubs from under them and give them to Subi and East Perth, When you speak of spoon fed, look no further than Subi and EP.
In order to give Kingsway off EP and Kingsley off WP, to Subi, the WAFC then took Ellenbrook off Swans { even though Swans had nurtured the club from birth) to give to EP. .
So take away the Junior clubs in the area that WP shifted into and tell them to go and build their own, great way to support a club that shifted.
When North Perth Cricket Club shifted to Joondalup and West Perth Shifted to Willeton they thrived because of the support of the clubs in their new area.
When WP football club went to Joondalup not only did their existing Junior clubs get reallocated but so did some of their new ones all in the interests of keeping Subi and East Perth Afloat.
So have a shot at WP all you like, but they were given a bum deal from day 1.
Footnote: Watch now for Aveley, nurtured and loved by Swans to be given to EP beacuse they need rebuilding after years of the alignment.

Big deal, South Freo but decades and decades into Rockingham and Mandurah only to lose them to Peel.

From what I can see the only losers in this are small businesses and the like who were forced to take 4 cents in the dollar with no punitive action whatsoever against the people responsible including the Chairman, the CEO and senior members of staff other than to be shown the door. That is not good enough....what's next WAFC or are you going to let it just fade away and hope time takes its course? When are we going to find out where the $ went, why it happened and what is going to be done against those who took the club down this path. If nothing else some accounting standards must have been crossed or broken and if the person performing those tasks at the club is a CPA or CA then the relevant professional body should be notified. What's next Gavin Taylor?

Over 5 months down the track and not only has my original post which kicked this thread off not been addressed in any way shape or form, but the pricks have their hands out for more taxpayers money. Good on Mick Murray for telling them to either sink or make a more concerted effort to swim. Where is the transparency around where the money has gone and how the club got into this situation?

BC the answer is quite simple. They went into Administration owing $800k, which means they never had the $800k in the first place.
They operated on credit from may sources who will now get back $0.04 per dollar for their troubles.

I don't think it is that simple trsm as apparently quite a bit of it wasn't taken up in the club's accounts.

It is as simple as that. When all that was owed finally made it into the accounts,, as you will recall the original debt was much smaller, then they realised the debt was $800k
Just like your credit card, you never had the money but still purchased stuff and then when the accounts come in you pay , except in this case WP never had the $$ to pay.

The same thing happened at Swans 2011/12. The loss recorded in the Audited 2011 financials was nearly $400k. A new Director , Douglas was appointed at the reconvened AGM in March 2012 and he set about finding out the true position. By June 2012 he advised the club and the WAFC that the amount of the loss was actually $900k and SWans were now in a negative Asset position.
