DD: i remember the game too; by mid 80s Peel was given to South because Subi was a powerful club. Paul and Dean Wilson also played league football for Subiaco in the early 80s for the same reason. Giving it to Subiaco was right at the time, but equally, so was passing it on to South later in the decade.

Subiaco had Mandurah in their zone up until the mid/late 1980s and then Peel were stupidly inaugurated for the 1997 season so it certainly was not quite decades and decades that Mandurah was in SF zone and most certainly not from start up!

I recall going to a Perth v SF game at Rushton Park in the mid/late 80's. I'm thinking 86/87. Mandurah certainly wasn't our country zone so it must have been South's.

5/4/1986 first WAFL game at Mandurah hosted by South Fremantle who lost by 2 goals against Perth

waflfootyfacts: a good win by the PFC considerring they had to travel, came from behind, and it would seem, by his high standards, Wiley had little influence on the game. What a good pair of goal sneaks Mick Rea and Wayne Ryder were.

I just watched the JLT game at joondalup and notice a rather large sign on the hill with the word cardinals across it. Not a punter sign but one similar to advertising and abt the same size as the one at peel for whomever.

Obviously the folk at WPFC have decided to snub the WAFC and State government.

I have every reason to get into WP being an EP supporter but this is becoming a bit of a worry.

Correct, I was at the game. Cardinal Legal with what looked like an old WAFL Cardinals logo. Perhaps a hint that die hard WP supporters are stuck in the past and can't embrace the future.

Crikey have a look at the talent at that game on both sides. South's looked the better side on paper, Winmar, Vigona, Sumich, Worsfold, Hart, Willie Roe. Demons, Wiley Cousins (Bryan), Mount, Ryder and Rea starred with 11 goals between them and probably the difference. Also Stazza, Barich, Spalding Watson etc....
