Surely they've had all the hand outs they "deserve".
What have they f**ked up financially now?

All this after the State Govt handed them $8mill of taxpayers money for their new clubroom facility, a facility not accessable by the general public, and the $200k govt write-off in the initial rescue package, what else do the want?
maybe go and ask Swans how to deal with a dire financial situation, hard work and financial discipline would be a good start.

I thought their biggest problem was they had no control over their bar/function centre which restricted bar takings and other revenue raising opportunities? Didn't their new club rooms get completed last season which was also built on grants by the state govt and AFL money?

So now they should be able to bring in more $$$ through having total control over their own club rooms, bar and function centre. For instance today there will be 10, 000 plus at Joondalup Arena for the Dockers v Collingwood JLT. Surely there are bar and food revenue opportunities there? Are they entitled to any of the gate takings?

Would like to hear from any WP supporters who can shed some light.

DD I am not a WP supporter but had to respond to your post.

I suspect that the status quo remains with Venues West still controlling everything at Joondalup. The State government paid for it all and whilst WP have tried to brand it as their own rooms I think you will find that they have little or no control over it!

If they have then why on earth would that be so anal abt letting others into the area, surely the economics of having spend their hard earned is one way of reimbursing me my hard earned tax dollars.

The other thing is how arrogant are they expecting more of a hand out, disgraceful attitude and they had the gaul to pillory EP for using the alignment to bail us outm at least at the end of the day we were honest abt our judas act!

It's always been the most shit ground to go to for mine Grump. Nice football arena but piss poor for food and beverage and seating options for away visitors. Now they have new clubrooms will they allow us the privilege of sitting in the grandstand or continue to boot us out if we are not WP supporters?

The government should have stipulated as part of the bailout they had to change their name to the Joondalup Falcons and capitalize on local sponsorship opportunities. Take it or leave it.

My take on this is West Perth don't want a hand out they but they want a better deal from Venues West.

they wanted a handout and a better deal with Venueswest..
looks like Fong has finally worked out the club actually has to raise some money themselves, like they should have been doing years ago.

I think that key word in all of this WANT, all clubs want, most go out and do something abt it and some things are good and some are just plain bad (alignment).

WP made a decision however many years ago and whilst it took time to eventuate that decision was wrong.

Now they want, they got a bail out but still want from the government, VW is a state government organisation. They want better change rooms and the government paid out, they want a better deal, they want!

It's called a sense of entitlement and WP seem to have that in spades. The club must be run by a bunch of Millenials!!
