That's not completely correct trsm as I would imagine WP use the accrual accounting method like most businesses whereby revenue and expenses hit the books when they're earned and not when cash is received or paid out...so if they were doing things correctly, all debts would have been in the books and consistently climbing rather than some revelation when a fine tooth comb is used to work out what is going on....which suggests to me there was a significant degree of financial mismanagement and poor governance as reported by Community News.

BC, that is the crux of the problem, they accrued the income, including some sponsorship that never existed and didn't accrue the expenses.
Consequently the Board never new the true position, nor did they bother to ask until all the bills were brought to account.
Many Business' have gone bust the same way.
The former CEO in control of the systems was rewarded with an executive appointment to the WAFC

Yes mate....not sure of the relevance to WP wanting more handouts but if it's an opportunity for a bogan supporter to have a crack at Subi then so be it I guess. ;-)

Subiaco had Mandurah in their zone up until the mid/late 1980s and then Peel were stupidly inaugurated for the 1997 season so it certainly was not quite decades and decades that Mandurah was in SF zone and most certainly not from start up!

Precisely , their board voted for it, they can wear it, not our problem.

What they didn't vote for after they made the brave move north was for the WAFC to pull the biggest Junior clubs from under them and give them to Subi and East Perth, When you speak of spoon fed, look no further than Subi and EP.
In order to give Kingsway off EP and Kingsley off WP, to Subi, the WAFC then took Ellenbrook off Swans { even though Swans had nurtured the club from birth) to give to EP. .
So take away the Junior clubs in the area that WP shifted into and tell them to go and build their own, great way to support a club that shifted.
When North Perth Cricket Club shifted to Joondalup and West Perth Shifted to Willeton they thrived because of the support of the clubs in their new area.
When WP football club went to Joondalup not only did their existing Junior clubs get reallocated but so did some of their new ones all in the interests of keeping Subi and East Perth Afloat.
So have a shot at WP all you like, but they were given a bum deal from day 1.
Footnote: Watch now for Aveley, nurtured and loved by Swans to be given to EP beacuse they need rebuilding after years of the alignment.

typical swan districts mumbo jumbo.you have no understanding about zones. As the metro area expands the clubs catchment ares that are on the outer metro rim will get bigger unless a readjustment is made.Four clubs are hemmed in by the other five clubs claremont, perth, east perth and subi will have to expand into the other teams zones to have equal juniors..am I right in thinking that wattle grove is in swans area.a good growth area maybe for perth Swans, west perth, south fremantle and east fremantle have corridors with new suburbs being developed.

Nice assumption, but wrong.
I know lots about zones having worked on them for many years at both football and cricket.
Now if you could explain to me how Ellenbrook is closer to EP or easier tor the players to get to than Swans then I am all ears.
Yes some are landlocked and they chose to stay there.
WP chose to leave and were dealt a bad hand when it came to the zones.
The most recent figures I have show that
Swans may have a large area with lots of large properties and Hills and vineyards, however urban infill has created a larger population for the clubs in their old areas plus they have gained the developing ones.
Swans juniors are shrinking and East Perth and Subis are growing.
There was supposed to be a redistribution in teh same year as a state election, but alas the WAFC don't know Arthur from Martha.

the only thing i will say about the WP situation, is that, it is quite a long way way from Kingsway to Joondalup and Wanneroo had been in our zone since the 1980s. WP should not have moved. The commission, as usual, failed to consider the complexities of basing the club in a large immigrant area. WP have had a rotten deal with zones since, at least the 1980s, which is why i did that thread on 'wp zone talent'; their zone has been rubbish, whether based on Balga -- Westminster Nollamara, or Joondalup for forty years .Just be thankful that Subiaco did not move to Carine and Perth to Kelmscott. I have suggested double zones before.

Can any one point me to a map of the zones which exist in the WACA competition?

'Bease' your right about Peel being in Sui's zone, it is where we got the Monaghan brothers and Greg Kelly

I recall going to a Perth v SF game at Rushton Park in the mid/late 80's. I'm thinking 86/87. Mandurah certainly wasn't our country zone so it must have been South's.
