DD WP just need to be reinvented and placed in a receivership process until they get their house in order, letting them go to the wall is nonsense and to be expected from .......

There also needs to be a clear statement of the situation - who controls what, where can they make money on their own behalf and they need to be told that the days of exclusive seating has gone!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

If they fold the WAFC will create a new team called the Joondalup Falcons, the coach and players of West Perth will form that side but the WP administration will have nothing to do with it. They will find local people who will embrace a newly formed club that represents their area. Didn't the WAFC register the name Joondalup Football Club or Joondalup Falcons when WP went into administration?

West Perth supporters are their own worst enemy. Embrace change or die.

if west perth fold I don't think it would be a good idea to get a new team to replace them.the wafc want at least one merger to bring the wafl to 8 wafl clubs.I think it would be a better idea to move subi up to that corridor but only if all problems with the joondy set up can be resolved.

If that happened chaddy that would spell the end of your mob. You couldn't afford to be the sole tenant of Leederville Oval, that's why you gave up Perth Oval in the first place. You better hope Subi stay right where they are. Why would the WAFC want to go back to an 8 team competition? Our population is more than double what it was 40 years ago.

One of the new teams is an AFL reserves side, Peel was an expansion club that struggled to compete and only surviving due to the alignment but I don't believe a 9th team should ever have been in Mandurah. But we must have a team representing the northern corridor and WP are doing that but not by name.

DD you are only partly correct. We left perth oval to become sole tenant of Leederville between 2000-2003.We left due to two reasons.Firstly their needed to spend nearly $1 million dollars to fix up the place. and secondly sharing the oval with Perth Glory was not working out.As well the government was willing to spend $1.35 million to upgrade a vacant Leederville oval.I suppose the same argument as to sole tennats can be used for all the other 7 clubs.I have been in favour for ground rationalisation. It seems as it is not on the radar anymore with the Claremont redevelopment and now possible east fremantle. redevelopment. Add the fact that the wafc could not get any teams to merge sees us in this situation. The south aussies have been able to solve their problems with a merger thirty years ago and port Adelaide basicially merging their sanfl club in their structure.

If you want to lose a club then obviously it's Peel who have done nothing for the comp, bled the WAFC and state governments for dollars which have not been paid back, their premierships are Freo's so why not remove a club with no history and no on-field results of their own.

As for Subi moving, not in a million years, as BC mentioned. When the club was considering the forced move from Subi oval, three options were put to the members to consider and vote on, first option was to ground share at a redeveloped Claremont oval which made huge sense being the 2 western suburbs teams but Claremont Council would have no part of it back then as they were eyeing off the profits from a subdivided Claremont oval while pushing the monts to the Shitty showgrounds, so that was dead in the water. 2nd option was ground share with WP at Kingsway, again not a stupid idea but the costs involved were way out of the park for either club, the Council or the Govt. The third option was what has happened and was passed with only 1 dissenting vote. So we've been well down that track and wont be moving anywhere else. WP's problem is WP's so like Swans recently and Subi nearly 40 years ago, and other clubs who have faced similar situations, you roll up your sleaves, rattle the cans and get on with it, dont expect everyone else to do it for you.

If someone had said at the start of the 90s that of the three Perth clubs one would move 20ks and go bust and the other would have to become an AFL feeder club twice to survive who would have said the one remaining would be PFC? Not many.

Tax Payers have already pumped a fortune ( and lost a fortune) on this hopeless mob, the Australian Tax Office wrote off a couple of hundred thousand as did the State Gov, not to mention the many creditors that walked away with 4 cents in the dollar in what can only be described as a disgraceful let down.
Not an extra cent should be put in by tax payers, too much has already been wasted.

As far as I'm concerned there are just too many clubs in the WAFL for system to support.

I am a tax payer and my tax will not go down nor will i receive a refund regardless of whether the government give West Perth concessions. We must remember they are getting screwed by a government organisation..
For the record i think the Footy commission should and could do a lot more to equalize the comp.

Considering WP play regular finals footy every year then, not sure the Footy Commission need to step in to help them then.....they will be fine.....help those clubs who need a boost to truly equalize the comp, for a competitive comp.....are we talking onfield or off field equality here...LOL

Astro, that may be the case that your taxes wont go up or down due to these various rescue packages, but thats nearly 1/2 a $mill thats gone to Joondy not to mention the $8mill for their "restricted access" clubrooms that could have been spent on important things like health education & road safety.
