You should give Geoff Hutchison a call on Friday Sportstalk(9.30ish) and ask him, what he knows of 720's Committment to WAFL Broadcasts for the rest of 2016.Be interested to hear his response given he follows East Fremantle and what's at stake for Old Easts.

There has been TALK that 720 will be dropping Live WAFL broadcast for a while..

Is it going to happen in 2017????

Why is that now a thing of the past! abc radio refuses to broadcast Wafl matches anymore which kills interest for rural people! Fairly sure no radio broadcast again this week either?!
It's enough to make one cry.

The reality is that most people are eagles , dockers or afl followers now mate, that is a reality of it, the focus of the media goes to where the public interest is, that is what people want to know about, with more afl teams playing more games its getting harder and harder to get air time for wafl games.

as the older generation of wafl followers continue to drift away so does the wafl fan base.

wafl needs an urgent revamp, lets hope the current review comes up with some good ideas and not just the same boring old ideas from boring old men trapped in the past...

If the 2010 GF got more coverage, then it was 90% around Kracks brilliant season, winning goal and personal redemption, 9% around the proven drug cheat Casserly and the rest was the usual WAFL GF coverage.

I do feel a bit for the Bogundean boys waiting 10 years + for premierships, I am a Subi supporter, we grew up waiting decades for that flag in '73, then fell in a massive hole until the off field and on field messiah's in Merrifield and Bunton returned and changed the clubs culture for ever.

Even so, 1988 to 2004 seemed a long time between drinks to me. Especially as I missed 88 as I was away with work!

No other WAFL GF since 1986 had the mass general commercial media exposure that the 2010 SD 1 point victory over CL had and the remarkable performance of AK made the WAFL recognisable to the general public again with every form of the media congregating at the Basso celebrations in the week after to get interviews and it will probably take another long overdue SD GF victory (or Perth) to get anywhere near that media saturation again let alone how many non WAFL fans who were still talking about well into the 2010 Summer! :)

yes..it's all coming back to me...if I remember correctly it was the lead item on CNN that night, Sam Newman raved over it on the Footy Show, the all conquering bogans got a ticker tape parade through Midland and AK was named Aussie of the Year....how could we all forget.

Lmao , yep, BC , they were still talking about it in Budapest when I was there...

The deluded fools are pure comedy....

Don't knock the value of the ticker tape parade. They cut up and used 7 (yes 7) news papers and the parade was led by Bundygirl....true story :)

Actually , remember the wafl grand final parades, im pretty sure the last one ever held was in 1997 , and that was down south terrace.

Wrong again! West Perth were part of a GF parade in 2003 or 04 I think it was. $ubi used to do their parade down the hallway to Neil Randalls office

must be a well trodden hallway then!

Then what?Cater to audiences that give the competition scant regard anyway, they jump on,then jump off, when the novelty wears off?No thanks!

All the more reason to turf the AFL Clubs out of the WAFL,Bazza.

As I predicted, their presence in the Competition isn't doing the WAFL any favours.Having their own side in the Competition WILL be THE END!

If this bloody WAFC did it''s job properly,it would promote the Competition to the Absolute MAXIMUM!

They'd get a better TV Deal which is CRAP and you know it!

They'd tell the AFL to bloody Jump when required, instead of weakly Crawling up their Arse!

They'd give it to Fitzpatrick BIG TIME who really has forgotten where he comes from.Eagles and Dockers fans don't seem to recall he comes from WA.Fancy that! :woohoo:

1. The Alignment his here to stay. because the eagles and dockers ( I hate both of them for it) get what they want..like it or hate it..they have the money , they call the shots.
2. What sort of promotion are you talking?? TV Adds, free give aways?? Adds at half time of Eagles and Dockers games...?? its all been done.
3. Err no, the TV deal is what it is, nobody wanted to pay us - we had to pay them as the product is not in demand. that's called market forces.
4. Tell the AFL to jump ,,err Sounds great . just one small issue - how do we fund our clubs money wise??..you got a few mill to chip in personally?? re players draft funds, alignment cash and footy dividends??? GINA maybe lol....???

We need new ideas - not fantasy.

That's why we make no apologies for our recent dominance, we've been well down in the past. We still haven't reached the levels of complete dominance that East Perth did in the 20's and South in the late 40's early 50's
