How surprising a couple of the usual trolling naysayers refuse to accept fact.
No other WAFL GF since 1986 had the mass general commercial media exposure that the 2010 SD 1 point victory over CL had and the remarkable performance of AK made the WAFL recognisable to the general public again with every form of the media congregating at the Basso celebrations in the week after to get interviews and it will probably take another long overdue SD GF victory (or Perth) to get anywhere near that media saturation again let alone how many non WAFL fans who were still talking about well into the 2010 Summer! :)

Interest was there between 08 and 2013 but the alignments are the single biggest reason attendances are down make no mistake!
East Perth as one of the bigger drawing clubs has been reduced to a shell of a club which is in fact West Coast masquerading as East Perth and their fans have left in droves as their club died. Peel have been a basket case now lifted to a fraudulent club thanks to alignment.
The wettest footy winter since the 70's is also a factor

Just because your team was going (drug assisted) well doesn't mean everyone else gave a toss. I saw no peak in interest in 2010 you should probably open your other eye.

You wouldn't see peak interest when at $ubiaco games now would you!

More interest in Subiaco games than Swans
S V FART 1278
Sudafed Districts V Perth 1144

yes..it's all coming back to me...if I remember correctly it was the lead item on CNN that night, Sam Newman raved over it on the Footy Show, the all conquering bogans got a ticker tape parade through Midland and AK was named Aussie of the Year....how could we all forget.

Same thing happens every year champ, all the tv news cover the game and mad Monday and it gets back page of the west. Same in 2010 as every other year and we'd know, we've done it 6 times recently. You obviously got wrapped up in thinking it was bigger than it was because its your team, kinda similar to a toddler that's excited to be at the zoo.

I think all the extra media coverage was for the failed performance enhancing drug test by Swan Districts player Travis Casserly that really damaged the WAFL's image.

The funniest comment was the one about it being the biggest media saturation since the eagles came in...

When was the last time The West did a Traditional GF Wrap Around Saturday Morning addition , with Team Pics and line ups....???

I will tell you - 1989 and the crowd was nearly 40k...in shit weather as well.

ABC TV did the usual broadcast and 4 radio stations live - plus

Ch 2 still had a Sunday WAFL Highlights Show and Ch 10 also had a live

GF OB from Subi hosted by Ian Brayshaw with a highlights package into their evening news..

How surprising ol mate missed the extremely vital clue of the post in regards to the mass exposure AFTER the 2010 WAFL GF.
Must have been on the all too familiar donut run duties all week back then!

The only difference between them both GTR being one lot (alignments) take our best Colts players whilst the other take our best League players ...which is the greater of the 2 evils I wonder?!
