Silky player but looked like an old man running around in baggy shorts and carrying a bit of puppy fat this year with the Royals.

Recruited as a coach, yeah right.
Is his coaching salary now part of the salary cap?

Even though the club has done well off season, I think we need to be very cautious as to any predictions for 2017. Swans were so far behind everyone else last season that the measures they have taken with recruits may just serve to make them more competitive at least. Every other team will be improved as well so any talk of finals contention is premature and fanciful at this stage. having said that the hope is that the combination of experience and youth will gell just like it did in 2014.

Wouldnt mind those baggy shorts running around in a Demons jumper.
With no "AFL" pressure on him he will be a class player at this level.

Our recruiting thus far imo has been below par.
Nothing added that really jumps out and says "yep that will improve the team"

Seems to me we are more intent on "Off-Field" recruiting.
Sound familiar.

I'm sure you would be questioning that if the Perth FC had recruited him. Would be 12 points for sure and lucky to play 10 games IMO and of those plenty of bench time.

it has nothing to do with Swans.

Because for some reason the SDFC has aligned itself with the KGB this year. For some reason everything is hush hush, big news with no substance so naturally speculation runs rife.

Definitely nothing to do with Shane Yarran. DD, When the right people in the right places trust you with info and ask you to keep your mouth shut for a week or 2 its the right thing to do if you ever wanna be privvy to sensitive info again ...but must add I do enjoy putting out a little teaser to invoke some discussion on our board otherwise it can be an almighty quiet time of year on the site. Trust me SD folk will be mighty chuffed when the club announces this one....until such we shall remain in cohorts with the KGB

It is ......according to thewest

"Retired West Coast defender Xavier Ellis will make a shock playing return with Swan Districts in the WAFL next year.
In a surprise decision that has helped catapult this year’s wooden spooners firmly back into finals contention, Ellis has committed to playing for Swans on top of his role as colts and league backline coach in 2017.
The 28-year-old approached senior coach Greg Harding last week to say he wasn’t finished yet as a footballer and wanted to come out of retirement.
Ellis strengthens a transformed Swans line-up that will fancy its premiership chances next year after signing de-listed AFL quartet Ryan Crowley, Clancee Pearce, Jamie Bennell and Corey Gault. Former Carlton midfielder David Ellard has also returned to the club.
Ellis, whose 120-game AFL career included stints at West Coast and Hawthorn, will add to a core of hardened AFL recruits who will inject on-field leadership and experience into a team that won just two matches this year."

Wow that became news quicker than expected...for those in doubt there is no conspiracy...Ellis was originally not going to play but has had a change of heart...if he can keep his body right a huge in for our side in 2017....a very welcome addition

Will both be fighting hard for their spots in the side...a couple of seasons back felt both were not in Gregs good books but glad to see them back at the club because both players can play a role...Joel's ability and knack to find a goal 2 years back was the difference between winning and losing a couple of games...happy to see him back and looking forward to see if Jesse has some good footy in him

Just to summarise what is becoming a very active off season recruiting campaign for Swans. Coming in are Ellard, Pearce, Bennell, Gault, Crowley, Ellis, Houghton, Ridley, Manton, Noble and possibly Yarran. I notice that Murray Newman is also on the Senior list, does anyone know if he is training? Have I missed anybody?
Also are there any losses from last season I wonder apart from Simmo?. Someone mentioned that Ansey may have been looking elsewhere.
