MD you need to go sit in the stand on a windy day at Leederville ....i was stationed on the boundary line wing yesterday between both interchanges for all bar 10mins during the hail storm. Yes it was bloody cold but at least my bollocks were still in tact at the end of the game. My scarf was also less substantial than the blanket I saw your neck wrapped in at 3/4 time :P much appreciation to the manufacturers of the Dry-Aza-Bone jacket I was wearing yesterday...certainly was the difference personally between winning and losing yesterday

Senior, glad you got your chips mate...hope they had more heat than the ones I was served. First failure at the club food wise for me since Anzac Day v WP last year when I was served a semi frozen seafood basket by the upstairs bar. Nothing like waiting for deep fried food to thaw in your mouth :P

As for the footy one observation from yesterday was the amount of easy/quick goals Subi got from stoppages in our deep defensive area. Work needs to be done there because we conceded too easily at a number of them. Subi obviously well drilled up front. Like I said previously a bloody good footy side. Hope we learnt a few things from them yesterday even in victory.

DW by my count we gave up 5 goals close to $ubi's goal from ridiculously trying to keep the ball in play instead of rushing it through under pressure, why we did that I have nfi ..another modern footy trend that makes zero footy sense especially considering the conditions?!

Doc Blakely was very influential yesterday as well he took some strong contested grabs in that last stanza.

We were lucky that the breeze abated in the early part of the last quarter which enabled us to set up a 2 and a half goal lead and then hang on for dear life at the end! Keeps us in the hunt. The loss won't have any negative impact on Subiaco at all, in fact it may get them focussed towards the finals. Hopefully Broady's injury isn't as bad as it looked.

You were lucky in a lot of ways today mike but winners are grinners. Good job.

Being monstered in the tackles aint luck..that is the blue print to beat your mob who are still raging favs for the flag.
I reckon our count of 108 tackles would almost be a season high across the comp
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

108 tackles, bloody hell that's enormous and your guys obviously followed the script coz that's what Harding mentioned in the West pre-game. It was always going to be that sort of game though given the conditions but it's one thing to have the intention and another to carry it out, like I said previously, one team knew it was playing for it's season.

Both sides were equally intent on trying to win this game, Schofield was scathing at 3Qt giving his side an audible blast, hardly stuff from a team with so called nothing to play for! Its no coincidence that in losses to SD and WP the Lions have been monstered in the tackling pressure from the opposition and I suggest this is one of the key factors for any side coming up against them from here on, its a wide open flag race but still dependant on the AFL ressies frauds ins/outs etc

Simmo tends to have that effect when you kick the ball in his direction :)

Great effort by Swans, gutsy win.To peg us back from a 22point deficit early in the third quarter was full of merit.Have Swans got any to come back in besides Ugle and Houghton?
