these are pretty valuable points mate - seeing today's play elsewhere
WA play Tasmania again next then Victoria both at home so keeping away from a last round shoot-out is helped by these points
Qld might get over NSW too and that would see them around Victoria

Wrapped it up pretty early today which was good to see.
Still some work to do if we want to obtain the home final at the WACA again with the VICs making a move in to 2nd place on the SS table, we now play the last 2 games at home vs TAS again next week then the VICs who we may very well have to go back to back against!

turned out to be a pretty big round - and if Qld go down to NSW , WA are qualified 2 games out and it'll just be where it's going to be played
If Qld get up they might be above Victoria and make it a 3 horse run in

Table after 8 rounds

WA   42.26
VIC   31.34
QLD  31.2
SA     24.47
TAS   24.1
NSW  12.79

Remaining fixtures

WA play Tassie and Victoria at the WACA
Vics play NSW as well as WA
Queensland play SA and Tasmania
SA play Queensland and NSW
Tasmania play WA and Queensland

Apart from NSW every team still in it. WA would have to fall over badly to miss the home final. Their opponents are llkely to be Vic or Queensland but a few upsets in the next round could put Tasmania and SA back in the hunt.

Looks like WA will be playing SA in the final of the one day cup in a few weeks. SA bowled the Vics out for 136 this morning and assuming they chase down the runs, they will go up into 2nd spot and a date at the WACA.

To make sure of things WA are going to have to win one of those fixtures because there is one hell of a dogfight brewing for that final spot - we probably won't know who's playing until the last round is done by the look of it
Tasmania have given us a bit of stick today and the rain might have saved a first loss

Hard to figure out this Duckworth-Lewis stuff - WA have just been given just 24 overs to score 190 nearly 9 an over geez

How they work that DLS out has me stuffed mate.
Tassie faced all but 7 balls of their 50 overs for 285 and yet somehow we are left to chase 190 in 24 overs so less than half the overs Tassie received???
Anyways we knocked off the 190 with still 16 balls to go!
Now we face SA in the final at the WACA on March 8 in a Day/Night clash.

it is baffling mate that's for sure
that was some effort overhauling a quite difficult target - saw the future of Oz cricket opening up
national selectors need to be taking note of young talent like these two

So Ashton Agar was sent home from India under the assumption that he would play some red ball cricket. Guess who is missing from the WA team playing Tasmania at the WACA today? So obviously the WA selectors didn't get the message. I don't blame them in the slightest though because Rocchiccioli will be the spinner who plays in the final while Agar is back in India wasting his time on a meaningless one day series (or maybe he will be serving the drinks again!)

He has been treated as shoddily as any cricketer I can remember by the so called Australian management.  Who knows what he could have done if he had been played in India on these tracks? We will never know, he could have taken a 5 for like Kuhnemann did. My Nan could have probably got a wicket on the Indore dust bowl.

If Ashton has any further ambitions of playing for Australia, he should be thinking about leaving WA and going to a state with more spin friendly conditions. Maybe go to Adelaide to play with his brother.

As for the Australian cricket team set up, maybe a flogging in the ashes would not necessarily be a bad thing in the long run because it might trigger another review and flush out some of the dead wood that obviously exists in the system at the moment.
