After playing on a road last week in Victoria, the WA and Queensland boys have had to play on what is obviously a nasty pitch where the pace bowlers have dominated. We have had scores of 211, 115 and 97. WA are currently 4- 45 in what seems a futile pursuit of 194 for victory.  Two extremes. Can't we get a pitch on which there is a even battle between bat and ball? Ideally moving around a bit on the first day, then flattening out and taking spin on the last day. Surely that would be possible?

Great win by the WA team, Hardie and Cartwright leading the way with exceptional knocks, supported by Fanning and Paris. Exciting times for WA cricket, depth in both batting and bowling, plus a lot of youth getting some shield exposure.

Considering Qld were at full strength with their Aust boys playing,  whilst WA were missing the likes of Green, Inglis, Agar, Stoinis and both Marsh boys. WA could field two quality shield sides ( old / young)

Bancroft                       Goodwin
Whiteman                    Wyllie
S Marsh                        Fanning
M Marsh                       Green
Cartwright                    Philippe
Stoinis                           Hardie
Inglis                             Connolly
Agar                              Richardson
Paris                             Kelly
Gannon                        Rochiccioli
Behrendorf                 Morris
Tye 12th                      Moody 12th

It didnt even occur to me that QLD were at full strength Freeze but yes they dont have anyone currently in the AUS T20 World Cup squad, actually you can add Short & David to your list of WA teams there as well.
We did well to get the outright win after looking in all sorts of trouble in our 1st innings.
With WA players in Green, M.Marsh, Stoinis, Inglis, Agar, David currently missing in AUS squads and S.Marsh injured it has been a good opportunity to play and get experience in to the likes of Wyllie, Fanning, Phillipe (as a keeper), Rocchiccioli, Morris etc who will be the long term WA players, in fact we have done better since those youngsters came in to the side and the likes of Stoinis, Agar & M.Marsh were missing!!

Hardie will play for Australia at some stage. He has the temperament and technique to succeed at the top level. Good to see Cartwright also getting back to the sort of form that had him selected for test cricket. WA cricket has a real depth to it at the moment the likes of which we have not seen since the Kim Hughes era..

In future years fitting Hardie and Green into the same test side gives real ammunition for the sub-continent allowing you to play one or two recognised quicks and 2 genuine spinners

He might occasionally leak a few runs, but he was uncomfortably quick for the Croweaters yesterday.

Good comeback from Gannon after an average first innings.

The depth in WA cricket at the moment is quite amazing. You could put out 2 competitive teams from the squad they have as freezin was saying earlier. . From the last game they have rested Jhye Richardson and Joel Paris but they have not been missed at all, with Morris, Gannon and Kelly doing the job. Scary for the other states.

Just managed to scrape over the line against SA yesterday, nearly mucked it up by losing 5 - 20 odd when they were cruising. Some good performances by Australian hopefuls in Hunt, Phillipe and Inglis.
WA are now certain to make the One day final with only 2 matches to go, it will almost certainly be played at the WACA
A couple of tough away Shield games to finish off the first half of the season. One at the SCG against NSW which will be a challenge given that WAs record at the ground is pretty absymal. Then a rematch against Queensland in Brisbane where they will have to confront Neser and Steketee again. If we can win both these games WA could have just about wrapped up a shield final place prior to christmas.
Heady times for WA cricket, probably the best depth wise since the glory days of the 70s and 80s

WA and NSW must be playing on a minefield for day 2

After being bowled out for 233 om Day 1 WA must have thought they were in a strong position to bowl out NSW for 93 in just 37 overs. Bat well for a few sessions and this game is in the bank right -

Well, we are right now 6 for 45 of 24 overs. All we have in our favour is the fact we are 185 in front you would not want to chase that based on whats happened today
