"The offer perpetuated other professional and personal conversations and it became apparent that accepting the position was not the right decision for myself, my family or the East Fremantle FC."

he changed his mind in less than a day after initially being excited about landing the job & preparing to meet club officials....GO AND SMOKE YA OWN POLE GEOFF

the club rightfully would of told the remaining applicants that they were unsuccessful & then he lands this bombshell

Ben Dwyer?...you mean either Luke Dwyer or Ben Dyer mate........

interesting as you say strono that Valentine "apology".....don't blame the guy if he took the money from Guildford Grammar over EFFC offer.....but atleast be open and honest about it......perhaps a bullet dodged for both parties.....Valentine avoids jumping on the train wreck called EF and EF avoids an individual who appears lacking the character to be totally up front and brutally open and honest with the "truth".......something EF next coach really needs to be to folk on and off the park, if EF are to get out of their current mess.......but as Custy says.....panic buttons musn't be pressed like they were in the DD nightmare.......

Well Geoff Valentine can kiss any future WAFL head coaching position goodbye you would think no other club would want to be embarrassed like that. He would have been aware Subi and WP could be in the market for a new coach for 2019.

That must be so frustrating for the EFFC. The way that this news has filtered out you would think the whole process is now redundant and they will have to start again, just when they need a coach on deck ASAP. What is confusing is the change in attitude of Valentine towards this job in such a short space of time.

Can not see any club wanting to touch Valentine with a barge pole after that performance.

A case of Guildford Grammar being the better of two evils I reckon....both gigs are coming off wooden spoons this year in their respective comps....just one gig pays more than the other it seems.....can only see one of the previous applicants being prepared to take the role on knowing they weren't first choice.....and I think Ooooolll knows who I am referring too.....LOL

Another shambles, that follows 3 years of disastrous decisions by our “ leaders”. Based on history, should have expected this I suppose. Surely the settler here is to go back to Woewidin with a peace pipe, or do we go back to the days of a playing coach, god help us ,!!!!!! We get to celebrate 2 Valentines Days each year now.....

Didn't Todd Curley do that to Perth?

On this occasion I dont think the Sharks management are to blame. You expect any person who actually applies for a job and then goes through the process to actually want the job-he did accept it. I suspect the money didn't stack up and he found that out when the contract was offered. Piss poor form really.
