Really disappointing we only got one year of Broughts back at the club, true Subi man and a valuable one point player.

As for Shep, I'm not surprised he's left, makes the signing of Powell more understandable.

This is now the third off-season in a row when I've looked at the outs we've had after a successful season and thought there's no way we'll be able to stay up at the top, but as DG mentioned, both times so far we have managed to compensate for the big losses we've had in the last few off-seasons by bringing in very adequate replacements. Hopefully this summer turns out to be the same.

You can pretty much say Halligan and Hancock are new recruits this year.

Hey buddy, have hopefully sent you a private message if you could check it
Cheers

DG wrote: Seems we have also lost Robbo, off to kalamunda according to another ozfooty poster. Any truth in it Buddy Boy?

Just been confirmed on the Subi website that he has retired. Was a handy player for us but was getting on a bit so a nice clearing of 10 points.

Brett played 118 WAFL games, 82 for Swans and 36 for Subi plus 2 state games. Not sure how many he played in the VFL for Werribee. A 2 time premiership player (2010, 2015). A wholehearted performer and a valuable contributor to both clubs. He actually came back from an early season knee reconstruction in 2010 to play in the Swans premiership team, a gutsy effort. I personally never begrudged him going to Subiaco for a better monetary deal in 2015 instead of coming back to Swans as he was at the age where he needed to make the most of his limited time in footy and he had already given Swans 6 good seasons of service. I hope he goes well in whatever pursuit he is following.

agree mike. I enjoyed watching him play at swans and said so years ago on FG...much like Beros. so to get Brett in maroon and gold and watch him play every week was just a bonus. a terrific player, great career and from what I understand, an all round good guy. congrats Robbo.

Spoke to Robbo a few times around the huddles when he was injured, always cheerful and ready for a chat, I'm guessing his foot problems finally did him in, can't stand up to the rigours of WAFL footy but would be a great pickup for Kalamunda, really smart and highly skilled player.

in an earlier post someone said the club had tried hard to find a ruckman but to no avail. Then mentioned that Bestry has had a very strong pre-season so far. he's not all that tall but his tapwork is good and he is good around the ground. Wondering if they will look at a 3 way rotation with Clang and Dela through the ruck, FF & the bench. We should get plenty of goals from Ryan and Halligan, both are potentialy 50 goal players.

it looks like we'll struggle given the outs but then again we seem to say that every year until Schowey weaves his magic and we're in the mix again...I guess it'll be the same in 2017 but would really like to see whether some of the ressies like Bogey and Walters have committed again before making a prediction

"Schowey weaving his magic" More like Capes waving the cash and cheque book around. Get Schofield to coach Perth when he started at $ubi then see how goes !!!

Maybe Perth would have been a highly disciplined, super fit group with an actual game plan, challenging for the final 5.

Fixtures look much better this year with byes in rounds 7, 14 & 21, looks like we play the new grounds opener against the Tiges in round 6, given their new look team and coach at Tigerland it should be a great day.

Not the opener SS, we play South there the week before for the opening (if it's ready)
