The Force.Im lucky to watch a half of a great game like State OF Oragin. Maby the Allblacks.Force get about 10 minutes for me on tele till they drop the ball or cough it up.Do feel for the Kiwis ,Bocks,UK's who stayed loyal to the club.They would of done ok longer term.In the end they couldn't retain players or recruit good players.Although there current coach was suppose to be pretty good.

gtr: too true -- the game has always been played in the western suburbs, as you know, and will be into the future. I have been reading some of the eastern states press, particularly the letter's page; it is fair to say from the out set, that there are quite few peevd off Western Force fans.

Really to be competitive with NZ and SA, they need to go back to two teams, NSW and QLD.

The other Rugby code does ok in Melbourne .They have some of the greats playing .But you can swing a cat by the tail at a Rebels match and not touch another fan.

Rugby is one of the last sports in will sit down to watch but I reckon the Western Force probably pull as many through the gates as any of the more fancied eastern states teams. The ARU obviously don't have the same mindset as the AFL who are always trying to grow the game in minority States.

But West Australian sporting teams being treated shabbily is nothing new. Glory earned the right to host the (I think they call it the FFA Cup) between all A league and A grade club teams in the country but were forced to play over east, in Melbourne I think against Victory because they thought it would draw a bigger crowd.

With Twiggy behind the Force they should get nervous over east. If they are successful in their court challenge Twiggy might just get the cheque book out and the Western Force might yet become a Force in rugby.

You are right Bazza. Rugby "union" is seen as an elite school boys sport. Since Twiggy has so much to say about alcohol abuse, petrol sniffing and sexual abuse and violence in the Kimberly's perhaps he can put some of his hard earned into programs to get these kids and young adults into sport and the sport that comes natural to them, Aussie rules and get them playing cricket. But a photo opportunity with Western Force players in the background is a much better look and going to get the headlines as we have seen.

You'd hope the sponsorship dollars or some of it currently going to the Force could end up at the WAFL but don't kid yourselves, The Force are/were in a national comp, nationally televised so the money will go to the 2 local AFL empires, have no doubt.
Maybe the old Lotons ground can be reconfigured for real footy and an un-aligned Eas purf can head back there
