Any reduction in an over crowded Perth Sports market is a good thing for WAFL, then factor in the Farce had zero free to air commercial TV coverage , unlike WAFL, you never know we might pick up something.
find it odd so called wafl tragics are cheering on twiggy and his fight for the farce, got to ask where is twiggy when it comes to local grass roots clubs that have been here 100 plus years and provide pathways for indigenous youth?

We are always looking and needing a big ticket sponsor how would it of been if FMG and twiggy had walked in Perth FC or WAFL HQ with a multi mill sponsorship deal? Instead of backing a bunch of blow ins most of who come from overseas player wise, piss poor really.

Bazza wrote: More wasted money, stuff the Force, where is Twiggy and his Squilions in true WA Sport, the WAFL..come on Grassy get real, if this bloke was fair dinkum about WA sport he would be pumping the dough into WAFL Clubs and giving us a CRACK v the AFL monster, no he pisses it up against the wall on a sport foreign to W A , a little Western Suburbs hobby for the Christ Church and Scotch eleite mobs and his Yarpie Pom public school mates

What a load of BS, come on Twiggy back WA and WAFL not this crap.

Sorry Grassy but Bazza has actually nailed it with this one....Forrest, Rinehart and all the other Billionaire families in WA and not 1 puts a single red cent in to WAFL footy..they all show their true blue blood colours by only financially supporting the old school tie favs raa raa, hockey, polo, swimming et al tripe!

DD wrote: You are right Bazza. Rugby "union" is seen as an elite school boys sport. Since Twiggy has so much to say about alcohol abuse, petrol sniffing and sexual abuse and violence in the Kimberly's perhaps he can put some of his hard earned into programs to get these kids and young adults into sport and the sport that comes natural to them, Aussie rules and get them playing cricket. But a photo opportunity with Western Force players in the background is a much better look and going to get the headlines as we have seen.

Belmont SHS played rugby in the 60s and Belmont and Kalamunda are not in the western suburbs.

Senior Seagull wrote: You'd hope the sponsorship dollars or some of it currently going to the Force could end up at the WAFL but don't kid yourselves, The Force are/were in a national comp, nationally televised so the money will go to the 2 local AFL empires, have no doubt.
Maybe the old Lotons ground can be reconfigured for real footy and an un-aligned Eas purf can head back there B)

SS internationally telelvised; not just national.

We live in a Globalised - Free Trade world.Maby a wealthy Sir Charles Court generation business man would of supported the Wafl.Gina and Twiggy would of grown up following a Wafl Team.
There is more interest in Peel and East Perth because of the Alignment in the media. Not much mention of teams like Subi and South Freo that can beat thoes sides.
I've been saying for a while now.And now looking how popular the Pre-Season Woman's league looks.A Night Summer series WAFL comp like A-League .Gives the Wafl a pulse, new sponsorship opportunities, escaping the AFL Alignment Clutches. A possible Pay TV or Commercial TV pay deal.During the traditional and footy winter the Wafl clubs can work on there Junior zones.

Bazza your ignorance is showing. Perhaps you might like to find out how many home grown players are now playing for the Force. You might also check out how many Force players are in the Wallabies squad.

Something has to change Swan. With our flash new Stadium and the Train wreck called Gold Coast Suns.Melbourne struggling to support 10 AFL teams.Dont discard the chance of Perth hosting a 3rd AFL team sometime in the future.Meaning a 3rd alignment side and more pressure on Wafl attendances.

Gtr have you actually consulted the players on their thoughts about playing football in 30/35+ degree temps each week not too mention supporters?
Your concept would be the last rites given to a comp that is currently on life support for mine!
How about something as simple as going back to the WAFL set up pre 1997?

Ignorance ? What caffeine are you on with this Farce?

Of the 40 odd current squad 3 I repeat 3 are actually born in WA.

7 NZ
6 South Africa
3 Fijians
1 Tonga
1 Scotland
1 USA
1 Namibia
and all the rest are from the Eastern States

As for Belmont playing Rugby in the 60s big deal, they would of been playing soccer hockey and a heap of other stuff and my guess is there are a heap more kids playing Soccer in Belmont this weekend than bloody Rugby Union as we speak.

Had to laugh , was tuned into 6pr and they had a segment on the force removal, had some bloke who had been memeber since day 1 talking, some Pom with a plum in his voice so big he nearly choked on it, of course he was also from Cottesloe RU Club, the one and only epic centre of interest in the sport, not surpisingly he wasnt from Belmont. I thought this clown sums the game up.
