There is no over reacting.

The current Terms and Conditions are a few years old, and although written to protect the forum and its volunteers, they do need updating to comply with the current laws coming into effect, and also The Criminal Code Part 10.6 which regulates Internet services such as OzFooty.Net

OzFooty.Net is a free service, but not immune to the law. Its quite simple. If users do not want to comply then don't use it.

If you want to use it and abuse it, it will go the way of the other forums.

As I said a bigger announcement to come by the end of the year.

FG was a very good site in its prime but it fell over mainly because the owners didn't want to invest in anti-spamware and the crap that was posted by idiots from other countries became intolerable...so genuine posters just drifted away. I also think this is a very good site and its incumbent on the administrators to make sure it and the views that get published remain within the boundaries of the law.

BC wrote: it's a shame this thread has denigrated into a slanging match between two or three posters as I think it makes a valid point. we can all have our opinions on people and think we're entitled to express them on a public forum as long as we don't call names, use derogatory terms, vilify or otherwise post things which could be deemed slanderous. I haven't got a problem with someone coming on here and saying my posts are crap and I don't know what i'm talking about...that's their opinion and they're enitled to it...the same should go for coaches where supporters express an opinion around coaching methods and results, and generally make the observation that the coach, player, administrator or whoever is useless. it's called freedom of speech.

Spot on BC, I must admit I have lost my temper once or twice and used profanities, but that was isolated soley to occasions when totally irrellevant personal jibes were directed at myself, one of the most offensive and quite frankly dangerous thing you can do to a fellow poseter is try to reveal their personal details or worse still identification, that to me is not only plain inmature and disrespectful but also opens to the door to all sorts of legal and even safety issues, you never really know who is reading these blogs are there are any number of nutters out there.

So as BC says nothing wrong with having different opinions, thank god we do otherwise it would be a boring world, but lets keep a tight lid on all the out there stuff.

I suspect if McMahon wasnt at Claremont you wouldnt have started this thread!

30plusyeardrought I'm assuming you were on footygoss, remember on the East Perth forum a gentleman came on warning people about defaming a couple of East Perth supporters? He was a well known Perth QC who was asked to look into what was being said/written.
Very little being written/said on the Perth forum is attempting to be funny/factual, it's mostly vitriol. Cartoonists can get away with mocking people because there is no malice involved.
We all need to tone down what we write, as I've stated before I include myself. We can keep being critical about Walton & WAFC, but we have to tone it down. That said, have a good day.

My observations and this has been the case for some time is that these problems seem to be issolated to the PFC thread, other clubs dont seem to have the same level of toxic in fighting and quite frankly posting activity, I have always found it remarkable that the club with least success and somewhat smaller supporter base is always so busy.

The tort of defamation consists of the communication of a defamatory meaning1 ‘of and concerning the plaintiff’2 to a person other than the plaintiff.3 The communication may be achieved through many means, including spoken or written words, gestures, exclamations or laughter, printed or electronic images, publications on the internet, communications in person or communications by broadcast.4 Any such communication is known as, and amounts to, publication5 and must itself contain, either directly or by implication, a defamatory meaning.6 A publication is defamatory of a person if it tends, in the minds of ordinary reasonable people,7 to injure his or her reputation either by:
(1)
disparaging him or her;

(2)
causing others to shun or avoid him or her; or

(3)
subjecting him or her to hatred, ridicule or contempt.

The cause of action in defamation is complete upon the publication of a defamatory imputation11 and damage may be inferred without proof of actual loss or injury to the plaintiff.

problem is what is out there for some is over the top to others......banter to some is vilifying to others.......a happy medium will never be achieved when such a variety of personalities/temperaments come together into a small melting pot.......

people just have to realise we are talking about a simple game of footy here...sometimes in the grand scheme of things that little fact gets easily lost......frustrating at times to lose, have your team ridiculed great to win and have bragging rights.....but come end of the day it's only a game.... means fark all in the grand scheme of things...some folk here and the folk getting talked about on here really just need to swallow their ego's... this site is just merely a talking point in life TBH......it only hurts if you/they really believe what is being said about you/them is true....if the cap fits, then, wear it....if it doesn't then laugh it off and accept it as the bullshit you know it to be then!

I tell you what all us Perth supporters will bugger off from this site just so you can sit around singing "coombia my lord".
Except of course when you are responding to Anchorman, now theres some toxic fighting if i have ever seen it.

Personally i think our supporter base considering our lack of success stacks up very well against the most successful clubs.

This site like you is becoming very sterile!
