Will be an interesting game I think - ;)

Doggies nearly mauled the Tigers
They've shown spasmodic form - competitive on their day, disappointing when their focus wains
SF are sometimes the elephant in the room when it comes to WP .... hopefully this week the 'grey beasty' doesn't do a dump on us - it could then get messy for our confidence moving forward

I have faith though!! :woohoo: so Ill be watching with anticipation

I don't see too many travelling from the port with it being televised - shame if that happens but it will mean the loyal locals must arrive in numbers and enjoy the day...

Your right Grump.. SF gave CLA a fright and buried EF earlier in the season and then we only beat them by 3 points early in the season.
Not going to be a pushover by any means. Looking forward to it

Heres the media for this round.. Colts all at Brownes WP have ABC TV game
Colts are having a Super Round.. See article x WAFL site below

COLTS SUPER ROUND

HE West Australian Football League has scheduled three Colts games to be played at Brownes Stadium this Saturday, July 20 to increase recruiting opportunities for young players.

With the support of the Perth Football Club, three Round 18 WAFL Colts games will be played at Brownes Stadium, with the first to commence at 9.05am and the last kicking off at 2.05pm.

The East Perth v Swan Districts Colts game will be played after the League match at Medibank Stadium, commencing at 5pm.

West Australian Football Commission State Pathways Manager Darren Davis said the Colts Super Round initiative had been backed by WAFL Football Managers, Player Development Officers and Colts coaches since its introduction in 2011.

“It provides a great opportunity to showcase three Colts games at one venue on the same day and allows AFL recruiting staff to view all four matches on one weekend,” Davis said.

“We are looking forward to what should be a great day for our WAFL Colts. We are committed to showcasing young talent and fixture games whenever possible to accommodate talent and recruiting outcomes.

“This will be the third season we have played a Colts Super Round as we see great value in this concept.”

We are happy with where we are, but we are still well short of what needs to be done and we are working hard to win enough games to play finals footy. If we are lucky enough to get to that stage, we will reassess and come up with a plan that hopefully comes finals time can allow us to show our wares at that stage of the year.

Nick Rodda, Matt Johnson, Ray Bartholomew, Laine Rasmussen, Jason Salecic and Jordan Jones weren’t in our league side before the bye against Peel and all of those guys are at different stages and have slightly different injuries.

Sala has only played four games and in two of those he got injured, Bartholomew has now missed three plus he went down at the 10-minute mark of the game he got hurt in and Johnson has now missed a few. Mark Hutchings has only played seven games so there have been opportunities for guys to step up to the plate, and it's been really pleasing that they have played some good footy.

I read Bills Grill just after he posted it - It reads to me that he is very pleased where the team is at this time of the season

Obviously there is much the team can improve on in the coming weeks as some quality heads return from injury
in my own observation though I would like to see the guys not hug the corridor almost EVERY time when going forward, especially at the expense of men OPEN on the centre. The old adage of "them so blind they do not see" comes to mind

Bill writes he may have some things up his sleeve for the finals? - you wouldn't want a studied game plan gutted by the opposition at the pointy end of the season I'm guessing his reasoning for this might be?

Still, care needs to be employed so that all players understand any tweaks and new structures - Id hate to see confusion on the park during the finals run let alone the actual finals games
That's just me being a little skittish I guess...

South have a good record up at Joody, and we got very close to knocking off the monts last week, reckon south will get up by 2 goals in this one..

I agree the record isn't a bad one - but I am guessing a 'reverse' of your prediction.
It will also depend on the days weather as to each teams ability to score well
if its a shitty day-the first quarter will be the tell..

Fine & sunny so weather wont be a factor...

reckon SF have been a bit soft at the contest this year...time to get some elbows out & head high tackles, hit em hard early, unsettle them. start a brawl or 2

nothing to lose, a few suspensions will hardly matter for us...

GO THE BIFF SOUTH!!!

Glad to see you bring up this point as I am sure a few supporters will have some input into our weaknesses.. Or their alleged problems. We tend to have tunnel vision and only see the same things in every game :)

Agree Grump we do see Match Plans that do annoy us and consistent things in this plan that annoy us but I am sure Bill and his coaching staff know and are working on this

A couple of things that annoy me are:

We usually have 1 BAD qtr where we let the opposition back into the game. Cant pin down the qtr but usually the 3rd or last?

At times the opposition always to have a lot of loose players and we dont MAN up so if we do a handover etc they can quickly move it forward. You see it in every game. Ok maybe it comes down to our style of play and match plan?

Our handover rate is sometimes incredibly bad and we do not hit the mark or kick straight back to a opposition player. We have to look at our disposal.

At times I get pissed off when 1 player goes in and the others are spectators. I have always been a great supporter of Numbers to the ball instead off being a Seagull and waiting on the fringes.

But then having said that we are well placed on the ladder but we have had a couple of VERY close ones where we have won by a point or two. Now if it had of gone the other way WE WOULD BE IN THE MIX fighting for 4th spot.

Thanks for your input anyway mate.. Something rare on this thread :(

Another brilliant idea from the Footy Budget. Full article in the BUDGET :)

They’re among the most recognisable and popular names in the WAFL – even if some of them are a little diffi cult to pronounce.
And their contribution to the local competition cannot be overlooked.
So West Perth and South Fremantle have joined forces to celebrate a key part of their heritages and hopefully inspire their current day league teams to
strong performances with the introduction of the Garlic Munchers Cup.
The Falcons were the first WAFL club to honour the contribution of players of southern European origin. The group is more commonly referred to as Garlic Munchers. It is a title those that are in the group relish with gusto.
The Bulldogs followed the concept with their own best-of list of players who either hailed from the Mediterranean region or were direct descendants.
While those Garlic Muncher teams will never meet in battle, the two WAFL clubs have been busy this week celebrating the impact of that culture on our great game.
