No it is a new concept called the GARLIC MUNCHERS CUP.. It will become an annual event. Read the post about it on page 1 of the topic

So West Perth and South Fremantle have joined forces to celebrate a key part of their heritages and hopefully inspire their current day league teams to
strong performances with the introduction of the Garlic Munchers Cup.

They’re among the most recognisable and popular names in the WAFL – even if some of them are a little diffi cult to pronounce.
And their contribution to the local competition cannot be overlooked.
So West Perth and South Fremantle have joined forces to celebrate a key part of their heritages and hopefully inspire their current day league teams to
strong performances with the introduction of the Garlic Munchers Cup.
The Falcons were the first WAFL club to honour the contribution of players of southern European origin. The group is more commonly referred to as Garlic Munchers. It is a title those that are in the group relish with gusto.
The Bulldogs followed the concept with their own best-of list of players who either hailed from the Mediterranean region or were direct descendants.
While those Garlic Muncher teams will never meet in battle, the two WAFL clubs have been busy this week celebrating the impact of that culture on our great game.

Pretty good sides but im surprised Chris Stasinowsky, Paddy Madaffari & Mark Merenda didnt get a spot in WP's Garlic Muncher team?

Our league side didnt turn up today :( Lethargic to say the least. Good win to SF and congrats to them. They have certainly turned a corner albeit to late. They will be a danger side to any side they play.

WP once again showed they will have to take a look at their selections. Chris Kuenen had a Migraine but played out the game. Frank Stockley who was one of BOG for the ressies must be put in the league side. He is handy up forward and provides us with another Big man in the Ruck.

Lets hope the team can turn it around next week v the FERRALS  or we will be back in the mix again for a place in the four. We play Peel the week after so still not out of it at this early stage but it appears there will be a few team fighting for that 3/4 spot.

Ressies Had a good win and continued their climb up the ladder. A win next week v EP will probably see them in the 4. A big turnaround and well done to Paul and the boys.
The bad news is Josh Donaldson was taken to hospital with a Broken forearm. All the best to him and hope he recovers from this season ending injury.
Razor played a good game today and will ready to go next week in the League.

Very Sad
  • Taken apart across the ground
  • read our plays before we ran them
  • We had no enthusiasm to experiment
  • we forgot to assist but instead let the individuals try to take the opposition on
  • drive into the forward line was miserable and the back half eventually caved under the pressure
SAD SAD SAD BAD BAD BUMMA CRAP POO!!!

Well now there is next week!! and I guess we'll see if the coaching staff let the team meander through the week like seemingly happened while the bye surrounded us - or will the coaches take the entire team to task and get their head around THE GAME - the rest backfired ............
The captains at least 2 games away from being himself so they'll have to do it together if the leaders cant step up

Yes Growler as you say mate. Funny we were talking on our Pet hates and I saw them all reappear today. The guys are not playing for each other.
Saw instances where my Numbers to the Ball and supporting a team mate just did not happen.. One in particular where 1 of our players had 4 SF players around him in the square and NO ONE RAN in to assist him.
Maybe we should change our name to the WEST PERTH SEAGULLS.

The other point I made in my previous post was the Opposition players running free and not manning up!!! Saw one of our attacks turned over to the SF side and they just kicked it to SF players who were not marked from one end to the other where they scored a goal. Pretty sure it was in the second qtr.

We certainly have to change the mindset of a few players before next weeks game or it will be over before it starts. I am not point the finger at all players as we have players like Gaudy/Browny/ and a few others that carry a big workload..
Sala had a bad day but sure he will improve with each game.

The Dogs are not to be taken lightly from this point. Btw many at the inaugural munchers game?
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Bills address after the game was very calculated, he was vey composed, he did not bag any player and he did not praise any player. He just could not understand why the skills were down and basic football went out the window. He thanked the members and that was that. I think Bill handled the situation well.
OK, the midfielders that would normally tear the opposition apart were flat, Chris Kurnen was not right today and he has no bloody backup. Like Harro said at Lathlain in 2003, ITS GOING TO BE ONE OF THOSE DAYS and today was one of thiose days.
