What the fuck are GWS actually doing here. They've got more talent then any club in the games history and are now loading up on B grade 30 year olds. This makes no sense. How are those blokes possibly going to get a game for them. This is a massive disappointment. He was our biggest signing. Has taken the air out of recruiting season

Exactly, not considered in the best 22 at the club that finished 3rd last. He must have played a blinder against GWS in the last season or two.

Has it happened before that a rookie listed player has declined the offer? I think it has. I just don't get it. That's why I said in my previous post I smell a rat here. With Tendai's Zimbabwean background and dreddies do they see him as having appeal to the growth of the game over there?

Good luck to Mathew Taylor a young player who gets his opportunity. Suddenly the need for a key defender rose sharply.

I smell a rat here. I'm guessing Tendai with his multicultural background had some appeal to GWS and he'll be busy doing coaching clinics in the western suburbs of Sydney.

Guys like Tendai that are recruited as rookies are bought in to clubs for there experience as insurance only.

If clubs cop lots of injuries especially towards finals time they have the experienced guys (like Tendai) all ready to go to fill the void and not some pimply faced 18 year old rookie.


Imo also our need for a mature aged key defender was already there.

Makes the rest of our off season recruiting the most crucial its been,Tendai with his wafl/afl experience would have been invaluable to the squad.

And anyone who has read what he said in an interview on the clubs website can see he was really looking forward to bringing his experience to the young players at the club and wants to help the club break its premiership drought. I don't think it's a fete acompli he will go.

bugger or what....most frustrating thing of all is Tendai is gonna cause some damage in the NEAFL instead of the WAFL next year.....well folk did say both DeBoer and Mzungu were inseparable at the hip....farking GWS hip sadly for you boys!

That's not the first time we've been bent over by the expansion clubs. O'Meara and Tunbridge both taken out of our hands a year before they were eligible to play AFL. How have their careers panned out? Both injury riddled. Nice idea by the AFL really looking after the stars of the future. Not!

What a real kick in the guts for us. He was the gun recruit in the WAFL for next year. I agree with 30Plus that Colledge and Smith are both unproven even at WAFL level. They may prove to be useful players but maybe not, whereas Mzungu would have probably started as Sandover medal favourite. What a joke this rookie bullshit is. The American term rookie used to mean a young up and coming player, not a 30 year old list filler. DD you could be right about there being a multicultural element to this, who knows these days. This GWS club, for want of a better word are already full with top end young talent so they can use their "rookie picks" as a safety net to keep experienced players up their sleeve.

What will the AFL not do to justify GWS existence? No action against the club for the Whitfield drug test avoidance, priority picks in the draft, anything to secure a flag for them asap.
I agree, they have as much if not more talent on their list and should not need to rookie list 30+ yo players.
