Only the second week of pre-season and I stopped by Higgins Park tonight to see what was happening.
There was a big squad of players and as is usual this early stage it was a little hard to identify many players.
It seemed to me that the squad has presented to pre-season in very good condition. Training was in groups doing different drills with footballs. These were very sharp, intensive drills and generally of a high standard.
I will be interested to see how the players progress before they take off for the Christmas break.

Was a great read on the club website today how Tendai came to the decision to return to the Demons shows this club means a lot to him and he is determined to bring the skills and mindset he has learned at AFL level to the young players at the Demons. Very heartening indeed and thank farrk he chose us. Very lucky in this day and age where loyalty doesn't mean a lot to a lot of people, Tendai is obviously an exception. Well done young man.

Great news for the Demons. He will add a lot to the group as a mentor and will be in the top 5 regular WAFL players. Well done to all.

PFC will have more than enough talent to play finals for the 1st time in 20 years next year

only question is can the club over come the losing culture that has dogged them? If not then making the top 5 will be a lot harder than it should be...

We have done well so far in terms of recruitment. Haven't lost anyone significant yet and have signed some very good players. If we can get another ruckman/forward like Jack Hannath then that would be great.

Clayton Giblett I think has bee brought in to play as a defender. Not much is known about him but he was involved in some underage state teams a couple of years ago. Maybe just needs an opportunity and regular game time, similar to Brent Latch who has been very good for us IMO since crossing from Swans.

If we manage to get that ruckman/forward and maybe another KPP then I'd like to see Earl and his Assistants back some of the younger kids in to play league. Let's play a Morisey, Ninyette, Scotney, Winmar, Narkle etc in the league. Give them games, see who adapts the best. This year Marlin, Fisher, Taylor were all given opportunities and did pretty well IMO while the year before that, Jared Bell was backed in. There's some talented players in the colts system and they need to be integrated within the league squad sooner rather than later. I do think though that under Earl this is more likely to happen than it has in the past.

You're right about the culture southsrlegends and the current playing group have been working hard on turning it around.

Mr AFL, Clayton Giblett is a good size...192/87 similar size to Brandt Colledge. His WAFL stats in all grades at East Perth are very modest. He did play State 18s
Obviously starved for opportunities at EP only 8 league games.
Perhaps Garry Moss coming on board as an assistant coach has had something to do in
bringing him to Lathlain.
Not as tall as Latch (196). It will be interesting to see what he has got. Hopefully he will not be an expensive ressies player.
