Aaron Dow listed as wearing guernsey number 150 for Perth in the reserves. Would like to see that. Never thought I'd see someone top Brownie's 100 guernsey.

Well there goes my theories.... Fry, Deaves and Morgan not listed with the League squad. Kieran Hug listed with both League and Ressies so he must be a chance.

Unfortunately cant see where we going to kick the goals from.....surely Brad Fry could have been given a go at full forward.

I reckon thats why Reimers and Bateman both have to play forward.

The problem of an experienced full forward or centre half forward has not been addressed over pre-season imo,yes they recruited some big fellas but all are unknown rookies and most look like they are defenders anyway.

With a squad list of 35 it was a little hard to narrow down players for some positions. Still though I'll have a crack even though 6 or more players will probably play that I didn't pick haha. :P

B: Ransted, Johnston, Jacobs

HB: Hodge, Risol, Tedesco

C: Bateman, Bevan, Sketcher

HF: Reimers, McInnes, Moody

F: Donovan, Eyres, Stack

R: Murray, Ali Smith, Ash Smith

IC: O'Sullivan, Leyendekkers, Kane, Richardson

Apparently AFL players have something in their bargaining aggreements were they can have the weekend before the first game off. However though if both parties agree they can play. McInnes should play as he is a developing player. Tunbridge would have played but it appears he has been suspended. Does anyone know for how long? IMO Ashley Smith and Sam Butler will battle each other for a place in the Eagle's starting 22. Depending on who's ahead of who before next week's derby the other may play WAFL early on to put pressure on the other.

If Brant Colledge plays then he will probably replace Eyres in the team. With both Daniel Murray (2 preseason games) and Mitch Leyendekkers (1 preseason game) both playing together last week you'd suggest that they would play this week. This means Christian Eyres doesn't have to shoulder the workload in the ruck like he did last season. However he's 193cm and 97kg. Thats a pretty solid unit. He kicks pretty straight and has a good set of hands, why not try him in a key position. The benefit is if he's needed to play 5 minutes in the ruck at the end of the quarter or during he can and Murray or Leyendekkers can go forward. Having one or two 200 cm players up front will be handy if we can get the ball down there. ;)

In regards to the midfield yo've got Bateman, Bevan, Sketcher, Moody, Ali Smith, Ash Smith, O'Sullivan, Hodge, Jacobs, Tedesco, Kane, Richardson who can all go through their at various stages.

Whatever team runs out on Saturday I hope it's competitive, takes the 4 points and starts the season in the best possible fashion. :cheer:

That's a pretty good looking team.

Although Ransted in the backline worries me and he is not good enough to be in our forward line.

Some versatility there and Eyres at FF is not such a silly idea, although he has not played in the preseason so I assume he is injured?

We have a lot more height, have gained some versatility and a new team oriented culture so I expect the boys to have a red hot go and a 6-7 goal win is on the cards.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

There was some whinging about having to play Peel in Round One, but it works out well with many of the Dockers players unavailable till next week. Big chance to start off with a win and get some confidence in the players heads.

Of course a smashing by an undermanned Peel will set the scene for the rest of the year.
