Any news on how Simon Tunbridge faired after being booked last week for that tackle on Max Duffy?
I agree with Smokey and doubt that AFL players will be released this week. I wonder what sort of an pact that will have on a potential Peel side. Does anyone know enough about Peel to put up a non-AFL supplemented team? Mind you, the way the football Gods (and the WAFC) treat the WAFL, I'd have 5 each way on our AFL boys not being released and for some unexplained reason, Peel having full access to theirs.

I can't see why there would be a blanket no release policy.

I would be very surprised if McInnes didn't play for the Dees as he has done nothing in games thus far. Further wc have heaps of forwards this year and may look at making him a back like Tarrant. I always think forwards make good back men, that's why I hold out dome hope for Houghton.

Florio must show something this year.

Sorry who is Johnson again?
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

I don't think that any AFL listed players will be released this week so,IMO, we will look more like the following:

FB Holland Risol Kane
HB Jacobs Johnston Tedesco
C Florio O'Sullivan Moody
HF Stack Deaves Bevan
FF Donovan Fry Reimers

FOL Murray Ali Smith Bateman

INT Sketcher Hodge Leyendekers Hug

EMERG Mather Richardson
Forward line looks weak but no other options that I can see.
Deaves can go down back if need be while Johnston or Risol can go forward.

I think you have to give or try and give the oppostion some headaches in the forward line, something to think about and for that reason i would have Bateman,Reimers and Moody all playing forward.Bateman and Reimers on the flanks and Moody as a floating forward and prey like hell that the midfield can get the ball to them.

I have absolutely no confidence in Deaves and would not play him in the all important key forward role.

Stack has pace why not try him as a wingman?O'Sullivan in the centre???
Id start Bevan in the guts..its about now that we can all see how weak our whole midfield is going to be.

I doubt whether AFL players that have no hope of getting a round 1 gig would be held back,i'd be very surprise if Tunbridge(unavailable/suspended) and McIness were both held back.

I thought it was part of the Players Association agreement with the AFL that AFL players get the weekend before the first AFL round off? Don't think its a decision for individual clubs on who plays as a result.

If Tunbridge got 3 weeks i reckon he can count himself damn lucky. it was a bloody dangerous tackle.

Jeez that team - in fact the whole new look squad with 27 new faces - looks awful light on for KPPs.

I agree Dazz. A stupid and dangerous act by Tunbridge.
I believe that you are correct on AFL players not playing the week before AFL round one.
30+, I only put Deaves at CHF for some height but as you suggest there may be some way around that. Anyway you look at it the forward line will be light on.
TFAF, David Johnston ex-Peel recruited along with Murray and Leyendekers - 194cm FB/CHB. Has looked good in the scratchies.
I am looking forward to seeing Kieran Hug (Colts F&B last year - beat Dean Kent) lining up. He is a talented player. Got 29 touches in ressies last week and for mine looks ready for a step up to league.

We need to plan for Peel having their AFL players.

Freo would need the okay of the AFL, but I will bet my last dollar that Peel will have them and we won't.

AFL rules, a week off in the week before the first game unless permission given.

Smokester, I wonder whether Harrison Morgan is worth a try up front.

He took some very good contested marks last week.

Looking forward to a good start to the season.

No reason, imho, why we can't win.

That thought did cross my mind DF.
My initial impression was that I did not think he could play but, yes, he did take several very strong marks last week and whilst he missed his first couple of shots at goal from dead in front he made amends and kicked three later on. Overall, he showed promise and no doubt will be watched closely.
At 195cm and six axehandles across the shoulders he is a giant of a man and could be very handy if he can produce.
