Informatively the modern era is defined as being from the last quarter of the 20th century.
Comparing ruckmen is opinion based. Different times.
One of the best is all the accuracy one will ever get.

Therefore in my opinion, in the prime of both, Coxy would have towelled up Farmer! Every day of the week

no where near cox, no right side, no where near as agile

Cox and Farmer stats are similar, Polly more handballs, the difference in my opinion was that Polly set the standard and changed the game for the others to follow. He was the best.

I'm sure Polly had his mentors and just like Coxy he was better than them.
