I’d like to change the topic here a bit, one thing we can all agree on is Subi have by far most of the best players in the comp. I’d be interested in hearing from the supporters, especially BC because he follows the AFL and watches a lot of dubious players join Fremantle, which players could succeed at the next level. Sokol comes to mind - but is he a bit one dimensional as a forward to go to the next level? Would Delahunty offer more than Zac Clarke?
Would help even up the league if a few of these blokes ever got drafted.

Michael Braut seemed to catch the attention of the C7 commentators for the GF telecast.

189cm
90kg
22yo
27 WAFL games

Built like a brick shithouse.

Perhaps some of the Subi diehards who get to watch games can comment on his potential to jump to AFL.

Litherland for me deserves a spot in the AFL, power, pace and attitude.

Local boys Deluca & Mayo. Oh hang on, they got spirited away with some other made up BS during the year... I really rate Borchet above all from this years players. Braut played out of his skin in the GF above what I was expecting. I read somewhere that Litherland was heading to the US to trial in the NFL

I heard Gus is heading to a US college as a gridiron punter, chance to get a sports based scholarship for the degree he's after. Obviously Subi's influence spreads far and wide to get a gig like that!!!!!

Gus has been in the AFL system at Hawthorn, played a few games then delisted, wanted a chance for another go so obviously Subi is the best place for that, but now a change of plans it seems.

I think Sok is a good 2nd or 3rd round pick, great marking and kicking, solid body and a fairly good defensive game so could play a similar role to WC's Cripps, but not quite in his class. Dela at 28 is probably just too old, Borchet certainly has the ability to have a go at AFL but would need to show he's more than a FF. For me the best chances would be Heal, has the size class and footy nouse to be a good HB, same for Lockyer although he's been through the AFL mill already but at a then top of the ladder Swans.

Braut has the physical attributes to make it at AFL, he's a big lad, has some pace and good off both sides, maybe benefit from one more season at Subi and if he shows what he did in the GF consistently then he's a fair chance. Greg Clark was on AFL radar after a very good 18's campaign a few years back but was crueled by injury just at the wrong time, is consistently in our best 5 or 6. Maxy Walters has improved his game exponentially in the last 2 seasons and is also regularly in our best, big goal kicking mid, looks anything but a footballer but is very effective. On Zac Clarke and Josh Deluca, it was great to see them both back at the club post GF enjoying the great atmosphere. Shame Schoey couldn't make it being tied up with the Port maggies SANFL GF.

If Subi lose players in the draft it will do nothing to even the comp. All it means is that the best available recruits will be snapped up by Subi, leaving others to fight over the crumbs. Especially if they lose a high point player like Litherland. Subi used 116/120 points pre season, but the loss of Mayo, De Luca, Wheeler and possibly Sokol frees up another 6. Litherland frees up 10 or 12. I assume they will turf Sutherland in order to get another 3 points to play with. Possibly Powell as well, as he doesn't seem to be as good as the players Subi usually use points on. So Subi could wind up with 20-30 points, so that's 2-3 top players.

Their player points used in the GF were 76 compared to SF with 37.
The sooner they have a player points cap per game of say 40 tops the better, it would stop this mob recruiting willy nilly each year and force all WAFL clubs to play more local zone boys!

I just saw this thread and reckon it throws up some interesting scenarios. IMO Sokol could add something to a team like GC as he'd get the third or fourth best defender and plays taller than he actually is. Braut was superb through the back half of the season and is still young enough and has the size to give it a real crack at the next level...the only concern is that he has a bit of a dodgy knee which flares up occasionally. Greg Clark and Borchet would be fringe players at AFL level and probably spend a fair bit of the season playing state league wherever that may be. I also found it interesting that Zac Clarke was around the place after the GF given he's on a 1 year contract at Essendon which hasn't been extended as far as I know although he hasn't been let go either. I wonder if he could make a return to Subi next year if he gets passed over by the Dons?...although in saying that, he's from Victoria so would be a long shot but you never know I guess.

Sokol could be a good fit for a couple of more sides than just Gold Coast, in particular if his match up is the 3rd or 4th best defender.
If Essendon delist Clarke he would be a welcome addition back into the side - would solve the woes that Subiaco has had in the rucking department this year and win more than his share of hit outs.

No surprises there STT....of course one would enjoy being the dominator rather than the dominated.....in 18 he dominated the WAFL....whilst this year he got dominated in most of of his Essendon games....
