In theory yes a good plan. I doubt that the WAFL clubs could even get together and discuss this plan as they all are to wrapped up in their own little worlds about self interests of their own clubs.

In such a scenario Peel would have little reason to exist - no history - no channel for colts - no Fremantle alignment.

It has been suggested should this happen that the WAFL would merge with the WAAFL and if everyone can hang on until this happens then all clubs could survive - how ever they would need to 'downgrade' themselves and get used to playing and existing at a different level.

A full national AFL reserves comp would be the final death knell for the WAFL, it would lose all status and funding and be totally irrellevant even mediocre players would be lured away to play in other states for any number of AFL reserves squads that would pay very well, there would be no draft funds coming WAFLs way and the WAFC funding for alignment would end, there would be no revenue at all.

The only hope would be for a merger with Ams as a amatuer comp. With a divesting of most assets to survive as a minor community based amatuer comp played at suburban grounds.

Baz the Afl ressies and I'm sure the Afl has talked about this behind closed doors.Would be to expensive for the struggling Afl clubs. The costs associated with flying two teams interstate.

The cost will probably be the only thing that stops it, however a high profile sponsorship deal could get it through especially if they can get a Qantas or Virgin on board.

If you measure against what they have done to support the WAFL, I would think that negative $10,000,000 would be a good starting point.

How much was wasted on the FAILED attempt to get the management rights for the new stadium? Oh and speaking of the new stadium, who was in charge of that FAILED ATTEMPT?

If you get a chance have a read of a post on the Amateur board which has been initiated by a first timer and is titled "Revamped league" Since the news came out that the Amateur competition is going to be renamed the Perth Football league I have been wondering if this would also have implications for the WAFL long term. The post describes a potential model in quite a lot of detail and I would suggest people might like to read this and add their views.

I think they are just copying what they have done in SA Mike in rebadging their Amateurs comp from the SAAFL to the Adelaide Football League in recent time.

Might not be that simple Bazza. WAFC don't want to lose their presence in the North corridor so who would West Perth merge with?

Spalding Park maybe. Carnamah Perenjori perhaps.
