The great Sartorial Elegance played 2 State Games in 1986 mate.
Played a cracker of a game at CHF against SA at Football Park and then also played in that classic match vs The Vics at Subi a few weeks later.
God I miss those WA vs VIC SOO games on a Tuesday arvo. :(

David Ellard in 2017 if he misses out. Alex Howard will be extremely stiff also, his current form is of AFL standard. I believe neither are in the initial squad although stand to be corrected if recently included.

DW didn't Ellard not even make the initial squad?

Thanks for all the posts, collectivelly they show the depth we had in the state at different times. BH: we are agree on Brad Shine; I would have thought he would have played some state football; he was a good player that man.

For Subi I would mention Neil Taylor and Clint Brown. I think Taylor did make one or two initial state squads so the selectors did acknowledge his efforts?

Rhett Baynes?
Doug Sims?

Tony Solin played 2 State Games for WA (1983) in his SD days not sure about when at EF.
Stan 'The Man' Nowotny played 7 State Games for WA (1974-80).

Seriously? 1974-76; 1978-1980.

AR I am petty sure Rhett Baynes played for WA in that infamous clash against SA at Football Park in 84 when with scores level late in the game Rob Wiley on the run from 50m kicked a point on the siren to give WA the win.
Doug Simms didnt play for WA but his brother Wayne played 2 in the early 80s.
Did Brian Taylor & Clint Brown not a guernsey for WA in the 87 clash against SA at the WACA?
My memory is fading but I thought they both might have played for WA that night I definitely know Brent Hutton played in that game.

BH: I think your right -- my memory is fading as well. Was that the game where WA beat a full strength side from South Australia. I am pleased Rhett Baynes played in the 84 game. Do you recall the South Australian bloke whom ran into an open goal and kicked a point?

When I want to recall how great Aussie Rules used to be, I watch an old SOO game

Funnily enough Singha I ordered a box set of the 1980s SOO games just earlier in the week.
They were the creme de la creme of football games in my books and I thank my lucky stars I was lucky enough to see most of them live.
The Buckenara freak goals, Blackwell smother, Taylor & MacNish marks, Sidebottom & Campbell dishing out the physical stuff to those cocky Vics aaah they will stay with me forever and a day!
