Thanks mate, you're right, so this year is one of the lowest -which is still poor, my figure I quoted above was for a complete season including finals, which I shouldn't have looked at (tired eyes for this time I he morning), the 1663 is home and away attendance average for 2016

Cheers

I take those "official WAFL attendance" figures with a grain of salt these days boys, there has been too much funny business going on for my liking with the numbers.

But from my own viewing I have to say the crowd numbers at ALL of the games I have attended this season so far have been good and far better than last year from my position at the grounds. Obviously nowhere near the glory days but at least an improvement on the disastrous 2016 numbers.

The East Fremantle games I have attended this year appear to have had "reasonable" crowds other than the Peel match that I didn't attend.

One can only go on the "official" attendance figures as provided by the clubs and published on the WAFL website.

Currently the 'average' attendance is better than for the 2016, 2003 and 2002 seasons and with some good fixtures, good weather and some publicity we can hopefully attract some good crowds this weekend.

Subiaco v Swan Districts with a top 2 position at stake should draw a crowd well in excess of 2000.
East Fremantle v West Perth - always a good encounter
Claremont v Peel at Fremantle Oval - should be a tight contest
Perth v South Fremantle - with Perth on the improve

Bring a mate and watch some great WAFL games this weekend!!

Hate to sound like the proverbial wet sock, but the current twenty 17 qualifying round fixtures up to week 7 are disgraceful!
Minus 8½ % behind at the corresponding time from last season. Which is worrying!
The next three weeks (before the mid season break) has some really good matches coming up. Lets hope the next 3 weeks sees more people attending. In the second half of the season, the spots in the top portion of the team rankings hots up. And hopefully more people start watching Wafl matches and bigger crowds than last season can be achieved.

SANFL crowds are on the rise. 19,000at the 5 games 2 weeks ago. The Crows stand alone team drawing over 2000 a game to boost the crowds with the extra game each week.

Out of interest how many games have you attended this year WAG?
I have seen every SD game plus a few as a neutral I can categorically tell you the crowds have been far bigger this year than last regardless of what appears as the 'official attendance figure'!

waflfootyfacts wrote: A more worrying sign is we are tracking to have the lowest attendance figures since WW2, with avg crowd of 1747. In 2016, the lowest complete season since WW2, the avg was 1889 - with lots of extremely wet days. With the beautiful weather this year in comparison to last year, things aren't looking too rosy

Yeah there is no doubt about it, from what I have seen across the board the attendance and general interest have been very poor.

As you say the weather has been quite frankly outstanding and no excuse there, once it turns cold and wet ( if it ever does ) it does not augur well.

Interest levels are down due to the alignment, I have no doubt , the farce involving Peel last year has done huge damage, people just consider the comp a joke now, that is the tragic state of affairs.

Fixturing has been poor as well, The Easter Fixture should of been spread out, the Anzac Day derby late start was dumb, full credit to the EF crew that got along regardless despite poor form , I hope you get some wins up to get a decent crowds along to Foundation Day , otherwise this year does not hold any hope at all of pulling a really big crowd.

Yeah always have done things better and SA People are far more into local non elite sports, WA people are front runners that go more for the big ticket stuff.

sad but that's just the way it is.

With the players we have running around right now, we can do it again.

But first, EP needs to stand alone and get their supporters back and WCE need to play as the 10th side.

Only way.

That was before alignment , but even before that H and A crowds were on the slide.

Sadly that's the way it is, so much damage has been done as a result of last years finals season...I doubt it can recover quickly, as you say with perfect weather up to week 7 attendances are shockingly poor with the exception of the 3000 odd at the derby even that was 500 - 1000 down tbh.
