In reality he was sticking the boots in while the club is down. The WAFL doesn't need clubs lists put under microscopes and slammed. I personally have never seen those types of articles about WAFL teams before and don't want to see them in the future either

Townsend also did the SD vs WP match report in the West last week where the only time he mentioned SD was that they were WP's opponent on the day in a game that was 5 points the margin and not even a brief message about Todd Banfield's game, his solo goal or the missed shot from 50m 2 seconds before the siren that would have drawn the match!

Yep it read like he wrote the report on the back of a beer coaster whilst having an ale at a Joondy pub. I would be amazed if he actually wrote that having attended the game.

I reckon Townsend does a great job. The most prolific writer for the WAFL I have seen. People are never happy
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

I agree with you TFAF, I think Townsend is a prolific writer about the WAFL and he does his bit to keep the profile of the competition at a reasonable level, its just that some of his stuff is a bit off the mark and the match report of the Swans v West Perth game was not his best piece of work to be honest. Look at Chris Pikes report on the WAFL website of the same match if you want to see the difference between a good match report and a poor one.

Why? He has had a reasonable career and been a great servant for the EP club and WAFL football

Clownsend writes a lot of shit and has a history of it, including today where he wrote Ricky Cary "kneed" Kody Manning in the buttocks last Sat. Now he never stated if it were an accident, provoked, deliberate? He just lets it hang out there, probably fed this allegation from someone at West Perth without evidence to back it up.

SD I watched the post game coaches interview with Mona's that someone posted and he stated that it happened a very long way behind play so I don't expect it was an accident.

I agree its a shame that Journos give little reference to a team that hasnt won on the day - they deserve more than a reference as an opposing team, similar to voting for players who rack up massive statts, but most are ineffective??

Townsend was at the Swans / West game the entire day sitting at the video box, and I believe attended the end of game presentations

Chris Pike (embarrassingly) will write as though he has attended a game when he hasn't - now there's one you need to question.
While he does offer reference to both sides and that's a bonus - the fact he at times writes from others observations and then not always correctly is disrespectful to many including the reader.

One of our biggest issues here in the West is 'ONE NEWSPAPER'and then the result of minimal experienced and passionate writers.
I see many token journos thrust at us and that's all well and good but as an example of poor reporting have a look at the dismal reports the WAFL gets from the Sunday paper.
If you want to get depressed take a cyber walk through Perth Now on line and have a gander at the WAFL reports - (try to find anything current) and the paper itself is not what I would call great cover   :silly:

Nothing more to say about J.O.N
