First I doubt East Perth could survive on it's own now, it has been to long, they would find it difficult without that assistance from WC.

I think if they follow the SANFL model regarding finals it will even up the playing field.

Also sorry to say Senior but your club needs to be pulled in also or you guys are going to win the next 100 flags.

I think all clubs or at least the G7 should only be allowed 2 or maybe 3 10-12 point players, this will restrict rich clubs like Subi and make it a more even playing field, and also give the local kids more of a chance to play league footy.

That's my thoughts anyway B)

(i) there can't be a 10 team competition unless the WAFL clubs agree to it;
(ii) if there is an 18 game season, that will mean a 10% cut in all the players' pay;
(iii) if there were a stand alone Eagles reserves' team in the WAFL what is the impact of the colts' and ressies' competitions?
(iv) where would the Eagles get the players they would require to allow then to field 22 players each week?
(v) on what basis do you believe that the revenue stream as part of a host club alignment would be maintained or increased?

Thanks for your observations S42 but they are just questions, I was really looking for suggestions and solutions.

Anyway I'll give you my answers.

i) Yes that's true but it's likey they will do that if some conditions are met in a trade off like more dollars and a change of finals player qualifications.

ii)That may be the case but most/all WAFL players have jobs or are studying and it's a semi-pro comp so you get paid for when you play, very few players are relying on WAFL pay to live on and the cut in costs will help each clubs bottom line.

iii) The colts and ressies fixtures will have to include some byes as is currently the case just needs to be altered to suit.

iv) The same place as the Crows do i guess, from other comps, but there would need to be strict restrictions on getting players from other WAFL club lists.

v) All gets down to ensuring that each 5 year alignment contract for example has iron clad conditions that ensure payments are maintained or increased according to CPI or some other method of inflation protection.

Cheers Falcon, I was hoping this thread would avoid finger pointing at certain clubs as this thread is just about the alignment, but in respectful response, as many on this site gleefully acknowledge, Subi will over time come back to the field financially but as that happens and to have the number of youngsters come through, the local and country zones need to be evened up as well, as you know WP are in the same or worse position as Subi regarding low junior district numbers. I admire what you club is able to achieve with a good % of local content, hopefully with your new facilities and a better deal from those thieving bastards at Venues West your financial bottom line will improve quickly, the same will happen for Cl, SD, Perth, SF/EF when their facilities are upgraded. All clubs recruit players as we all know and I agree that limiting the number of 10 point players is a solid idea a max of 4 10's and a max of 10 non local players is a reasonable way forward.

I have merged this new "Alignment" topic in with a similar topic started by Swan 42 a few days ago. Already another topic was created innocently on the same subject but now a third topic about the same discussion.

the other thing that needs to happen is for seats to be allocated to each WAFL club at the new stadium. what the club's do with them is entirely their own choice but at least then every club has an opportunity for on-going revenue streams from the AFL games.

No, since the new stadium is in the Town of Victoria Park (pending attempts by the matriarch of Perth to steal it from them), I think the Perth FC should have exclusive rights to 1000 seats and we will provide a luxurious shuttle service to Perth Stadium after being fattened up with a feast at the new Perth FC facilities. After we've banked our first million we are coming after Subiaco's finest. :lol: :P

haha nice one freeze but be careful, TOSG has been kicked off again. Not a bad effort by the sisterhood to get the victim sanctioned instead of the perpetrator.

Oh well life moves on.

Fair enough Admin but as you would have read, I was really trying to focus the discussion on future possibilities and suggesting options rather than the often irrational black or white posts that have been going on for days which don't recognize the reality that is the WAFL these days. Hopefully everyone can manage to provide some well thought out suggestions and not just "kick the bathplugs out"
