News broken by Hackdorn this morning on 6PR suggests the WAFL are going to pick a player from each club at Random and look at their bank accounts. He went on to mention $ubiaco as being the big concern for the WAFL - interesting. This will be yet another limp wristed exercise I bet..How are they going to track cash and whitegoods etc I wonder??

A few clubs have been caught out in the past.

But its tinkering at the edges - most clubs are broke, the real issue is the massive inequity between Subi and the rest of the clubs, its a complete farce, and should never have been allowed to run this long with huge income streams via AFL games.

I imagine $ubi would own a fair few houses and cars - is it within the rules to provide players with rent free housing and cars?

I wasn't aware that the WAFC had the power to access individual players bank accounts, I know they have access to all clubs accounts. Anyway will be an interesting exercise if it is the case that they can dig into individuals private affairs, maybe it's part of the players license /permit to play.

Obviously everyone thinks that Subi have most to be concerned about but be careful what you wish for.

S/S delusional I would suggest in terms of the WAFC getting hold of any of the players' bank account details.

Even the suggestion that they would pick ONE player at RANDOM? is symptomatic of what a joke the WAFC is and continues to be.

I Was told by a current WAFL club official on Friday night that it will just be lip service and that one of the issues that needs to be addressed is $ubiaco's finances, particularly in light of the fact they would have made roughly 180-200k for the weekends 2 AC/DC concerts alone which is fuckin staggeringly lopsided for everyone else!

I reckon Subiaco will be moving back to its former home ground and try to convince the Subiaco city council to keep the ground as is to try and preserve it's financial windfall it makes from events as you point out Swandog.

Swandog that's interesting
Are you saying that Subiaco promoted the event or are you suggesting that the $180-$200k was purely from bar takings.
Bar takings for the 2 nights would not have been anywhere near that figure I wouldn't have thought.
Still nice to have your bar full though.
An advantage no other WAFL Club has.

Just on the future my understanding is and I stand to be corrected, that the Sub premises are built on Council land. It is only the building that is owned by SFC.
As I said I stand to be corrected.
Subiaco Oval IMHO will be demolished and redeveloped and one would question the value of having a Football Club premises there after that.
Not sure what the land lease would say if Subiaco Council were to take the land back.

SFC probably to get paid $100m for the inconvenience.
