BH, the WAFC has always cared about equalisation.

It has been frustrating for us because I know how hard we have had to battle financially.
Nearly going to the wall in 1999, and then struggling each year to make only one minor loss since then.
Our club has done a wonderful job to survive and build a base including our Centurions Fund, which will see us never ever teeter again, hopefully.
All that after wiping out our consolidated debt, on the back of hard work not handouts.

All the while taking shit from other clubs (some of it good natured banter), as to how useless we are as a club, because of onfield performance.
We learnt to live within our means, and hopefully now we are gathering expertise to change things onfield.

Now as a struggling club we have to deal with the alignment as well.

The point here is that the WAFC have absolutely no interest in a competition which is even and fair.

Sorry this is one frustrated WAFL supporter who is fed up with arrogant people from a Club like Subi.

BC wrote: BH....I find it interesting you consider Subi utilising their own clubrooms to generate income as a "financial advantage". I think the members would start a riot if the club didn't make the most out of it's own assets. Next time they have a Commodore festival or Mr and Mrs Bogan of the Year at Basso, I take it based on your comments the bar and social premises won't be open.

See what I mean BH?

BC I think that the circumstances of Subiaco's fortune through the WAFC utilising your former home ground as the the AFL venue is most fortuitous for the club.

The fact that you make money through the bar is one thing but to allow Subiaco to also reap a reward from the hoarding and other facilities is something completely unjust.

Once you moved to Leederville then Subiaco should have lost all access to money generated by these avenues. The bar, yes that is yours and as such a bonus.

I realise that EP are benefitting from the alignment but most of our beneficial support obviously comes from our association with AHG (as do a number of other clubs), but Subiaco have been placed in a far more beneficial position through the these other residual benefits than other clubs and I think that is the point of contention that sticks in most folks craw.

As for the payments and points even from my view point I wonder how you do it, I sometimes wonder whether or not you get Sage advice but even that gets caught out!

My initial take on all this goes way back to when the clubrooms were built, I am more than confident the tax payer (our Fathers, Mothers etc) would have contributed to the construction and everything else that goes into any building. The WA footy public own the building for mine !!!

DF: Naturally, you are right in all your comments about the recent history of the PFC, particularly regarding the financial aspect. I think, at one point, you borrowed 30,000 from Subiaco? All paid back of course. It is fantastic that the club is on sure foundations, once again.

In regards, equality and equity of the competition, I am still waiting for the day that the clubs -- called the G6 by some on here -- put forward a united front on the issue. One could definitely look at restricting the monies given to Subiaco, for example, but I will not hold my breathe.

Unfortunately, there is a big disconnection between the preferences of the WAFL supporters and their respective club boards. This is true on the alignment question as well.

Can one of the $ubi fans post a link to this "supposed" Subiaco Oval seats deal all the other WAFL clubs supposedly knocked back? I certainly have no recollection of any such offer ever being put on the table at Swans!
And just how was it supposedly supposed to work anyway? Each club buys a certain amount of seats for each event that takes place at Subiaco Oval at a reduced price or at cost and then resell them at the AFL fixed prices? And as for packaging them up with food & drinks included the only place available would be the $ubi bar at the back of which $ubi would then be making more $$$$$ as they wouldn't divvy it up 8 ways for each club now would they!
This supposed offer available to all clubs sounds like complete and utter bogus hogwash horseshit I say!

But most years they turnover $4.5m and end up with profit $200-300k.
In our best year in a decade or so we turnover $2.2m and make $100k odd.
I just don't understand their books.
Although as BC says "if we have expenses they're in the books". Yeah right, under what?????
They cannot have a football department bill anywhere near any other Club.
Just look at their playing lists for the past decade or so.

You sure about that turnover? I'm sure I read an article which said that only one WAFL club has ever turned over more than $4mill and that was Swans during their halcyon financial days last decade, but turn over and profit are two very different things, as someone said it depends on what you spend the dosh on and Swans massive turnover had quite a lot of strings attached to it, not to mention an admin that pissed a lot of it away.

S/S of Swans' turnover how much of that was for the vSwans programme?

DF whilst I hope we can continue to beat your club on a regular basis I acknowledge that given your relative lack of recent success your club certainly has a good supporter base particularly relative to one other hugely recently successful club's supporter base and I sincerely hope that your club's board does not get into bed with the DEVIL INCARNATE when they move to Lathlain Park Oval.
