Coming back on the train from West Leederville had absolutely no atmosphere and I understand the demographics of the two supporter bases. I stayed for the presentations as a couple of people who had been to some Swans' matches this season wanted to stay otherwise I wouldn't and the majority of the crowd also left well and truly before the presentations had finished.

Surely not 42 SS called me every name under the sun for espousing those same observations of mine coming out of the gates! According to him there were 3000+ $ubi fans still at the ground for the presentations ..amazing considering there wouldnt have been 2000 $ubi fans at the game and hundreds were flocking out the gates as the same time as us!!

Mate we both know there were easily more SD fans there for the minor finals than what $ubi had attend the league..Like you and everyone else glad the farcical season is over, bring on the cricket

Just remove the sick , farked up AFL influence from our league entirely and let the league do what it does best - nurture & produce talent Mike

They cause too much damage & the proof was this year in particular

Fark off AFL & piss off to Vicco where you belong I say

Well said mate, but sadly the public have moved on big time, they got more atbthe eagles training than the wafl gf pulled, the wafl as a force in the eyes of the wa public is rooted.

Now for the result. At the start of the season if you were asked who would win the GF it would have only taken at most one or two guesses: Subiaco and "East Perth". Therein lies the problem. If we go back to a final four three of the four finalists assuming a reasonable run with injuries: those two plus "Peel". So we will have 6 clubs trying for one available spot.

South gave your fairies a touch up in the twos GF, that made the day for me swannie..lol

Bazza a simple question were you at Subiaco to watch them play?

ArkRoyal wrote: Good thread Mike, one notable for some good contributions from other posts as well. If you want genuine reform, you need to cut the salary cap and points for the top club/s in the competition. In addition, we could experiment with a tiered system, giving Perth the biggest salary cap. One can include an exception in the rules on the points system for players returning to their former clubs.

BUT

I would not like to see any such system introduced into the competition until the EP Peel situation is resolved one way or the other. Equally, we need to keep in mind that any such system would amount to a form of football authoritarianism of sorts; and, in fact, may not even achieve the intended result.

We only need to look over the border to see this -- the AFL for all its 'eqalisation', drafts, salary caps, monies paid, fixture lists and so on, has achieved little on the field; unless, of course you are one of the minority amongst the AFL fraternity whom support either Brisbane or Sydney.

A very simple solution to stop the ravaging of other clubs by the top club in the competion would be for their to be a premium for recruiting a player from a lower WAFL club. For example, if Subiaco (the top club in the competitio, recruited a player from Perth (the bottom club) there would be an 8 point (9 - 1) surcharge for that player. So what would be considered a 10 point player would become an 18 point player for Subiaco. This would allow the lower clubs to retain their players. HOWEVER, I suspect that the top club would then try to recruit from higher placed teams. This could be rectified by having a minimum 4 point surcharge for any club moving to the team that has won the preceding GF. This in conjunction with a reduction of the points cap to 116 should curtail to an extent this sort of poaching of players.

Turn it up 42 he wouldn't have watched a Colts or Reserves game in his life let alone played the game past auskick level plus I think you will find Clouseau had other, more important duties to perform, like mopping up the piss trough at Fuzz HQ!!

I have to admit, I was disillusioned by the day, there was reasonable support for WP but the WAFL put very little into the day. The fact that the "AFL Toyota" grass signage was still left above the WAFL GF signage, was a small but significant indicator.

Unless something is done about the alignment and salary rorting, the WAFL is fucked with a big black stick !!!
