Tough titties you say ? The way you have taken Mikes view shows you soft as a cow pat. I thought his comment well written. WAFL GF crowds on the decline, WACFL will use 2 AFL finals as an excuse, and was certainly some reason, but it is time now to move WAFL GF to a boutique ground like Freo, Leederville or the WACA and make it a twilght game.

I think the points system needs a revamp, it is clearly not working, I looked at my budget yesterday while my team was getting it's ass reamed and noticed we had 2 ten point players and Subi had 7 ten point players, also they were sailing that close to the wind during the season with the points they need to delist? players?

Not sure if all the other normal clubs use the allocated points but maybe a points reduction is needed? dunno

Also as mentioned the top 5 does not work giving a huge advantage to the team who wins the first second semi final, need to go back to the top 4.

What I would like to know is are all the clubs paying the full salary cap? How does subi fit all those recruits into the salary cap?
In regards to the top five it does keep the season alive and interesting for a lot longer, us and swans and to a degree South were locked in a fascinating battle for that fifth spot right down to the final round.

I have no idea of who has what points, but would hate to see a system in place that would deny a player like Hoarsley going back to his original club after been cut at AFL level. If points are up for grabs and you max out your points without breaking the rules then that is not a clubs fault it is the system, if a club like $$$$ubiaco can afford it and other clubs cannot use all points due to $$ availability

Tiger, the salary cap is a joke and very hard to control, when you have deals done with cash payments, white goods, fuel cards, cars etc, it is all very hard to control, the points system if controlled properly is better.

Unfortunately the 2015 season will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. The off-field dramas seemed to be the main talking point.

Where does one start in reviewing the season? Perhaps start at the end and work backwards.

Coming back on the train from West Leederville had absolutely no atmosphere and I understand the demographics of the two supporter bases. I stayed for the presentations as a couple of people who had been to some Swans' matches this season wanted to stay otherwise I wouldn't and the majority of the crowd also left well and truly before the presentations had finished.

Now for the result. At the start of the season if you were asked who would win the GF it would have only taken at most one or two guesses: Subiaco and "East Perth". Therein lies the problem. If we go back to a final four three of the four finalists assuming a reasonable run with injuries: those two plus "Peel". So we will have 6 clubs trying for one available spot.

Not true only five. You can't consider perth a threat to make the four.Alignment or no alignment people have not been able to see the how unfair the wafl has become.$ubi always a chance for finals and a premiership and Perth always battling to not get the wooden spoon.Only way Perth is going to make the finals is money and a better junior zone.

Surely not 42 SS called me every name under the sun for espousing those same observations of mine coming out of the gates! According to him there were 3000+ $ubi fans still at the ground for the presentations ..amazing considering there wouldnt have been 2000 $ubi fans at the game and hundreds were flocking out the gates as the same time as us!!

Good thread Mike, one notable for some good contributions from other posts as well. If you want genuine reform, you need to cut the salary cap and points for the top club/s in the competition. In addition, we could experiment with a tiered system, giving Perth the biggest salary cap. One can include an exception in the rules on the points system for players returning to their former clubs.

BUT

I would not like to see any such system introduced into the competition until the EP Peel situation is resolved one way or the other. Equally, we need to keep in mind that any such system would amount to a form of football authoritarianism of sorts; and, in fact, may not even achieve the intended result.

We only need to look over the border to see this -- the AFL for all its 'eqalisation', drafts, salary caps, monies paid, fixture lists and so on, has achieved little on the field; unless, of course you are one of the minority amongst the AFL fraternity whom support either Brisbane or Sydney.
