Great opportunity for the WAFL to showcase the competition with no distractions from the AFL. Given the warm weather in March it would be an ideal time to play a few twilight and evening games at Leederville, Fremantle and any other place that has lights. Could even play a double header at Leederville with the first game starting at 4pm and the second at 7pm. I think Saturday night games are better than Friday night ones. What do people think?

Depends how they split the $$$ re: double headers. All clubs are feeling the pinch (ex Subi) and need every $$$ they can get.
Claremont will be at the show grounds, the first game last season had a big crowd, mostly due punters from some type of expo hanging around. That's where they can make money, selling beers, women's auxillary selling burgers etc. Get some rides going, get the two AFL to send players to sign autographs, and what the hell, have Doro do a lap in a convertible "the Messiah" has returned!

I think that all clubs have to get together to make sure that the two weeks start has plenty of media publicity. Get some players from all clubs out to shopping centres and display them.
It may depend on where the night games are played Mike, Fremantle usually draws pretty good crowds on Friday nights. Maybe one on each night.
It will only be good for the WAFL, if the clubs get off their arses and make it work.

Perhaps we can get Connor Blakely, and potentially Ethan Hughes, to wear a Swans' jumper to promote our first game. And for a second suggestion the two aligned WAFL clubs don't start their season until their first team plays.

I think you should be on the commission, mikeh. The Wafl would be in better shape, that is for certain.

Peel have the bye first round if you read the fixtures Swan.
got a give you credit for trying , but as of Thursday Connor Blakely is no longer belonging to Swans. He is now a Fremantle football club player, and he will wear the Teal od Peel. Unless of that is that he is good enough to force his way into the Fremantle league team. What are his chances Swan?
I guess one day the penny will drop, especially for you Swannie supporters, but I wont hold my breath waiting.it takes a while to sink in up there.

Wasn't aware that the fixtures were officially out yet Anchorman. I know that there was reference to them yesterday in the West but they have to be ratified by the clubs before they are released to the public. As for Conor Blakely, I would say that he would be struggling to get a game for the Dockers in 2015 given the strength of the Freo midfield, so he will play for Peel..... won't bore you with my view on that as it would probably provoke another tirade about Swans supporters . I do however think that the two WA AFL clubs could do a lot more to promote the WAFL competition to their members and supporters. They are very happy to skim the cream of the talent developed in the WAFL but they could use more of their considerable resources to market the WAFL competition as where the future AFL champions are developed. People could be enthused to go along to spot the next potential champ and when they go along they might enjoy what they see and more importantly come back with their friends.

Anchor hopefully Blakely doesnt sulk and do a Clancee when Peel play SD, because Rosco wont be too happy thats for sure. Good test of the kids character if he can step up v his old teamates and destroy them with a BOG performance.....it will show to Lyon he has that tough as teak mentality he needs to be a successful professional sportman......Ethan Hughes if drafted by Freo will only be returning to his true footy roots down at Rushton Park....apparently SD recruited the fella from Peel reserves.......I wonder if Freo will rookie Cary? All their draft picks were mids so I can see them going tall in the rookie draft.....Keitel, Cripps or Cary perhaps?

WAFL fixtures will be ratified this week when the clubs meet with the WAFC.
When Claremont played West Perth at the show grounds in 2007 I think, the Eagles sent players to sign autographs, hand ball competition etc and adertised it, 7000 turned up, cost a gold coin to get in. More of that should be done, that said, we are dealing with the WAFC who aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.
